Good to know. I don't follow college and rely on you guys. Although, because Trent is here I wish they could find a start at Center. That type of player would make this offense comically good.

I'd imagine Zach Frazier will be a contender for their 2nd rounder. They do like WV lineman.

It also shows how much Kyle's scheme helped players like Tomlinson (and playing next to TW) and McGlinchey so much. The second they leave here they fall off a cliff and have to stand on their own talent...which was never very high in truth. But they were average here.

Not the only players the scheme clearly helped.
does OL transcend the coach or does the coach transcend the OL ?

I'll need to consult the free section of Brandon Thorns website to answer that.

My 2 newest articles for today, projecting contracts for Armstead, Greenlaw, & Ward, and then Aiyuk, Banks, & Hufanga.

Hope you are right but I'd still be cautious anyway.

I get it, but we have a proven track record of getting our guys re-signed/extended, the key core players, so I'm 100% confident in what I've said for months, the only thing that would derail it is if they use the money this season, that is earmarked for 2024 carryover.

Eh. I know Foerster has his ideas on what his players will look like (hence why Brunskill was stuck at guard). So I'm not going to bank on Moore changing positions when he's been at tackle for 3 years. Foerster's philosophy isn't changing. And I'm not looking for potential contributors. I want players who could help from day 1 if called upon. We have player after player at multiple positions on this team, except OL. Virtually no team in the NFL does. We are in a unique position where we could with 12 draft picks. We need to take advantage.

Now our other needs- it isn't receiver. Not on day 1 or 2. I have already accounted for corner. It can't be safety. It can't be TE (and I'll add the kind of player I want we likely will need to draft in the 3rd or 4th). Definitely isn't DL. It isn't FB. It isn't RB. And not only are these not needs, but these are positions where a rookie has no chance of unseating the starter. At guard and tackle there is at least a shot.

You won't find much of that. Guys rarely contribute day 1 at OL. People loved the tackle the Chiefs drafted and yet he's behind a udfa on their depth chart as the 5th tackle.

Disagree that we have that corner. Lenoir can be displaced rather easily. In fact they should be trading for someone at the deadline to do just that.

I'll also add O-lineman generally need lots of development, but there's a difference between day 2 and day 3 guys, especially in a good class. You can expect a starter and they come with a nice skillset. In spite of our great day 3 track record, you're playing with fire by waiting (ex. Only taking a tackle and waiting until day 3 before taking another).

Totally agree. Since you say we can keep these guys, my points are from the perspective of where can improve since the core will be signed/extended. I see O-line depth, maybe a guard, definitely a second tackle, a tight end that is an elite blocker and can help in the passing game a bit, a corner, and another receiver that can consistency win 1 on 1s. And that only accounts for 6 of the 12 picks.

No doubt.

Sadly, it also shows neither guy was very talented either and we were playing with smoke and mirrors and when we did need the talent, didn't have it.

It says, "If Kyle doesn't notice you you must be doing a great job."

I'm all about your list of needs right here.
I wanna see what Purdy saw when the line collapsed and he was hit or sacked.

This homer was just posted yesterday too. LOL.

PFF completely disagrees with him. So which is it?

IMHO, It's a good/solid (Tier 3) OL. It's NOT a dominant OL. And it's not the terrible individual grades and peer ranks by PFF either.

But we'll truly know more about it's ceiling after 5 more games.

Do YOU think this is a dominant OL?

How many tiers are there? If the 49ers are tier 3 but there are 10 tiers, that's pretty good imo. If there's only 4 tiers, then that's tierrible and I would be crying tiers from my eyes.

He cannot even define a tier let alone tell you how many there are. 🤣

I mean you have to know how many tiers there are. That's like saying "I give this restaurant 5 stars". Awesome.
Out of 10 stars.
That's not awesome.
