Grades and rankings are for lazy people that don't want to do the work but still want to seem like they know what they are talking about.

Well said

Yes and no people who do not look at stats have only opinion and not critical thinking. Stats do not tell the whole story however. As mentioned, Warner with a 40 point ranking after a game he played great and he was key in a win.

Who cares what his ranking was? Fred has not played all that well this season. He has 3-4 dropped INT's and has the 3rd highest missed tackles by a linebacker this season. The guy better flip a switch tonight.

His Ranking after the Steelers game. I would take him all day long, he may not be having his best year but still way better than what others have for a MLB.

Why do you get so bent out of shape over a ranking? We all know how good Fred Warner is. But he didn't have a good game against the steelers. He had 2 missed tackles and allowed 6 catches on 8 targets at a rate of 11.3 yards per reception. Now, can we get back on track since this is the o line thread?

I'm not bent just a point of not trusting stats alone. That Stats and seeing what a player did or did not do. Warner had a bad PFF ranking after the steelers game however watching his play was much better than just the game stats. No issue with the point of Warner not having his best season so far in 2023. I agree he needs to have a great game tonight, we need him at his best.

Well that is funny. His stats reflect exactly what I have watched of him with my own two eyes. So not only do I have my opinion based on what I have observed, I also have varifiable data to back up my opinion.

Significantly higher than PFF. That's for sure.

Trent Williams and Aaron Banks made it at least.

Nothing has bit me in the ass.

I didn't advocate to pay money for a stiff at RT.

I didn't advocate to change the whole offense for an average qb.

I didn't ignore all the data from the playoffs because it didn't fit my narrative on what is necessary to win.

Don't know if there's also a stat for leadership... Making sure everyone is in position... etc.

Would be fun to debate the differences in wat we've seen from Fred Warner,... Instead of debating his stats.

We are 1/4 complete in regards to the season and most of the more telling stats are cumulative anyway.

So even ignoring the footage and going strictly by the laws of math and statistics,... We're overdoing it with the emphasis on numbers a little.

The way i see it in general with regards to numbers is if you are a big fan of them,... then be willing to follow the rules of engagement when it comes to them.

I dont believe that a huge numbers guy is hugely willing to take the ones they like and drop or continually ignore the ones they dont over and over ad nauseam.

No no no. Discuss them... Give them context... Carry on forward.

A thread like this... I clearly can recognize that that's exactly what a certain poster wants: to reduce the level of the entire thread until we lose a game or 2.

Once that happens,... Watch how quickly he'll abandon the PFF mentions that no one cares about right now anyway... Lol. It'll be all about how our OL is losing us games. If not for them...

Look at a full page or 2 of this thread and u'll notice where nothing at all is even really stated about players in question. Just rankings and mines are better than yours or let me antagonize you about 1 like it means anything.

Watch the game vs a good opponent tonight. Wont be easy for both OLines.

Then bring back what you saw 1st and see if the numbers back what you saw. Just my repetitive $0.02.

The eye test has shown me that Fred has underperformed so far this season. The stats back up what my eyes are showing me. If there is no data to back up your eye test, perhaps its your eyes that are the issue and not the data.

Haha.

You just advocated for Trey Lance instead.

Which would have required a change in offense.

What "data?" Oh that's right...you don't advocate for PFF. Riiiiiggt.

Not that I doubt you,...as I havent seen cut-ups of all of his plays yet from this year. So I would go with your judgement of this before mine at this point in the season....but I'd also like to ask if you have any legit outside sources this far this year that match your sentiment?

I've heard them do nothing but rave about the guy. A missed tackle here or a missed INT there (which is still a POSITIVE play for a LBer, btw),....as a fan, we're naturally going to magnify these plays cause it's our team. But @ the end of the day,...what big plays have you given up, and what is your body of work? That's the divider.

He was selected by the AP and others this PS as the top LBer in football,...so he obviously has alot to live up to with every snap.
Going to channel my inner-Confucius Pre-Game Prediction:

If Purdy has problems with the rush tonite and we don't do well,..the mantra all week will be about our performance and really nothing else.

If we come out and control the game and win it,...the mantra all week will be about opinionated rankings and really nothing else. How we played will be a complete afterthought by Tuesday in this particular thread.

Excited to see (more than anything) which offense is more able to operate vs. a well-respected front 7. Now Let's play ball.
Need to see a great defensive stand here
bad play calling there Kyle
Taking us a bit of time to account for Micah roaming about. We just have to settle down and cut down on mistakes
Nice

Just what we needed
