The formula is like the theory of relativity. Always being worked on.

I was thinking Detroit, but the rams lost it more than Detroit winning it

No doubt. 2nd half Detroit did absolutely nothing.

What more can be added to formula?

Tier 1 aggressive GMs like Ryan Pace?

It's ever changing

How do you know *we do?*
because we have been progressing every year.

This starting OL is most likely going to be the same next year. We lose or resign Feli, bart, Pryor

We have who.. Manning, Gueti on the squad with more than one year of experience in the scheme

This later round OL pick would have to be a wiz to come in a take a roster spot

The counterpoint is that Trent is *aging* and when we didn't have Trent - we pretty much lost every game he didn't fully play in. I doubt father time will allow Trent to reverse his aging. Burford has been, so far, a bit of a disappointment. McKivitz is a decent OT, but Moore hasn't been exactly impressive in playing in place of Trent. So there are a lot of weaknesses on this OLine that will be further exposed, in my opinion, with time. I don't know if 49ers can sign Feliciano. I'd love for them to keep him. But they weren't able/willing to keep Compton and Brunskill, so I don't have much confidence in them keeping Feliciano based on their past track record.
Future wise yes we should upgrade, but it's not going to be easy unless we trade up and get the best OL. and if we do that.. we still have to wait for them to be something

Agree it's not going to be easy. But I also don't think they need three first round picks on the offensive line (like how they gambled on Trey Lance), not with Foerster and Kyle running the show. The scheme doesn't need three Trent Williams on the OLine (although I wouldn't mind at all ) but they do need an infusion at the OLIne position and guys that know the current OLIne crop say this is the best time to do it.

Agree 💯%, and drafting itself isn't easy. If it was, both you and I would be GM's and be paid minimum state wages and taking the bus to work.

Key is drafting well. And hitting on those draft picks. If they can do that (and they have in the past) the future is bright for the offensive line positions.

If drafting/team building was easy Ryan Pace would still have a job.
We really don't need to go all out for OL in the draft, we could even sign some FAs just a little better than the guys we have on the right side and be a Tier 1 ...

I"d be careful with that thinking. The NFL is a copycat league. I saw several 49er plays run by Tampa bay against the Eagles that went for decent yardage. A lot of teams now have a better idea of defending Kyle's outside zone runs because so many of his assistants are all over the NFL. After the 1984 Superbowl win, one of the smartest things Walsh did was *upgrade* his WR corps by drafting a little known Mississippi valley State WR in the first round, despite having a great set of WR's in Dwight, MIke Wilson and Solomon who won them a ton of games and two Superbowl's.

So go WR. That could work with our draft slot

This captured it perfectly!

Todd Bowles destroyed Philly! He was playing with 22 players on defense and 14 of them were blitzing.

Only one Tier 1 OL remains (Detroit). Also credit to several non-tier 1 OL's stepping up. Trench aggregates leads are still top heavy overall (2v4 losses) but credit to the Packers, Bucs and Bills for clearly winning their matchups (albeit, against a couple wounded ducks). 9ers are now the top aggregate.

Next up, 9ers have the big edge over the Packers and it's a pick 'em for the Texans and Ravens. Like that Rams/Lions, that should be a close, great matchup.

------------

Let's see how TrenchWarfare and Brandon Thorn are doing so far.

TW/BT = 3-3 so far.

Aggregate | Playoff Seeding | Record
1. Cowboys 3. (2) | 2 | 12-5 - Eliminated
6. Eagles 1. (3.5) | 5 | 11-6 - Eliminated
2. 49ers 7. (4.5) | 1 | 12-5
5. Chiefs 6. (5.5) | 3 | 11-6
10. Lions 2. (6) | 3 | 12-5
9. Texans 5. (7) | 4 | 10-7
8. Ravens 8. (8) | 1 | 13-4
4. Browns 12. (8) | 5 | 11-6 - Eliminated
13. Bucs 4. (8.5) | 4 | 9-8
3. Steelers 14. (8.5) | 7 | 10-7 - Eliminated
7. Packers 11. (9) | 7 | 9-8
11. Rams 10. (10.5) | 6 | 10-6 - Eliminated
12. Bills 9. (10.5) | 2 | 11-6
14. Dolphins 13. (13.5) | 6 | 11-6 - Eliminated

Let's see how the QB's play now.

Just a reminder, the formula is broken for year 8. There were no tier 1 QB's paired with tier 1 OL's.

This is where the O lines ranked in the regular season.

This is where they rank in the playoffs.

This is a chart that ranks QB's, O line's and defenses vs other playoff teams throughout the season.

Since the formula is broken it should never be brought up again.
Was it all sell out blitz? Everyone know the Bucs was going to blitz, they did, and they end up with a free rusher on most of those plays. If they send more pass rushers than blockers, it make sense, but I don't think that was the case. The Eagles was supposed to have the best OL. It was ridiculous the Eagles cannot beat the blitz all game long.

The formula is to adjust the rankings after the fact. It always works no matter what.
