Better now than when Trent is gone.

A tackle was in the cards either way since McGlinchey left. No high picks last year.
It really isint about Trent as much as it is about improving at the tackle spot.

Who is Chris Foerster, as an offensive line coach, in my opinion? Did he not realize that the offensive lines needed to be trained on how to protect our quarterback?

I'd love for the 49ers to trade down that pick and get multiple day two picks and get some depth that the bottom feeding teams will poach from us. Guy's like Chase Young, Celine Ferrel, Jauan Jennings, Pryor, Feliciano etc... I think will be poached, or if retained will take a chunk of limited 2024 cap space. Got to have a good draft and hit on some starters (hopefully one or two on the OLine squad) this next draft to keep that Superbowl window open.
We should trade up for this guy.
Tyler Guyton
Oklahoma · OT · Senior
Guyton is a tall, long and rangy right tackle. He doesn't have a ton of starting experience (15 total starts over four years at Oklahoma and TCU), but he is very gifted. In pass pro, he explodes out of his stance and has the range to cover up speed rushers. He is very fluid and smooth in his redirect versus counter rushers. He plays with excellent knee bend. His problems arise versus power rushers, where he can look a little flimsy up top and get tugged/pulled. He has very good awareness for someone with limited reps. In the run game, he moves like a tight end. He can reach and cut off easily, excelling in space. He is exceptional as a puller because of his athleticism and balance on the perimeter. He does a great job staying off the ground. Overall, Guyton is still a work in progress, but he has elite traits and tools.

I'd love to see a new exciting right tackle come in and learn from Trent Williams while he is still here
Also if we get a good Right Tackle, the opposition defences wont know which way e are going to run the ball instead of it always being to the left

I would love that. However, They've been impressive finding free agent OLine gems in Compton, Brunskill, Brendel, Feliciano in free agency. I"m betting that's probably the first thing they do, aside from trying to sign Aiyuk to a long term deal in the offseason.
As for the draft, A lot of draft nerd threads point out to a loaded OLine crop this year - I'm hoping the 49ers double and possibly triple dip on the OLine crop this next year. I don't think they need to trade up to get a Trent Williams 2.0. First of all they have Foerster who's done well with developing Banks, McKivitz, Brendel, and found Feliciano. I"m comfortable if they draft Trent's replacement in in Day two, as long as Trent buys them time to develop that day two draft pick in a year or two down the road - when Trent hangs 'em up.

Last year we kept holding our breath for an Olineman to be drafted early and it never happened. At least we got the early round kickers out of the way.

I hope we can retain Aiyuk, but he's going to command premium cap space. It's going to be really hard to retain him, but if anybody can do it -- ShanaLynch can do it.

I don't know… but he needs a 24/7 chaperone the minute they land in Vegas
