One of my favorite drafts was the 2010 where we got Davis and Iupati, beefed up the line with straight potential, wasn't flashy but it was awesome, even though it didn't work out extremely well. Oh and mays(madden god) and bowman were in the draft so it was super exciting.
I hated that draft at the time because I really, really wanted Earl Thomas....and really really did not want Mays

Yeahs I remember a lot of people who wanted him, would've been nice for sure. And mays wasn't fluid at all so that's understandable

Tier 1 OL and Tier 1 QB and we lose to a tier 2 QB

I wonder if Harbaugh will do that again with L.A.

It just sucks it takes rookies so long to learn this intricate system. But if they're really talented, they might be able to play while they learn. 17 game season. Plenty of time to learn even in a split role like Burford/Feliciano.

Harbaugh wasn't with the team then and never had control of personnel anyway. Poisoned from the jump.

Trenches were the one thing he and Baalke did agree on. Probably the only thing. Ha

I have a feeling a couple polys slip in the draft like Fautanu and Suamataia. I think we might be able to trade up for Fautanu around 20ish and Suamataia @62.

I can see Fautanu contribute right away playing RG eventually taking Trent Williams spot and Suamataia redshirt his rookie year and assume RT.

Sounds like fun.
Not seeing any real OL trench prioritization here

His comment really had nothing to do with my post in the first place (that Harbaugh wasn't with the 49ers in 2010).

Either way, there is an analytics guy I follow on twitter who was discussing Harbaugh/Baalke's time here and trying to use that time to predict that Harbaugh wouldn't prioritize OL at the top of the draft with the Chargers. Didn't make much sense because they invested heavily in 2010 (pre Harbaugh) and Harbaugh wasn't making player selections anyway.

Agreed
Can't wait to see what he does with the chargers: they actually retained most of their talent and have some good picks and Herbert
Our Tier 2 OL played like a Tier 5 OL in the Superbowl after all that extra rest and planning.

They drew critical false start penalties that killed drives, ran into each other going the wrong way like it was pre season, blew protections, left Jones 1x1, didn't account for Jones on the most important play of the game and as always, gave up a 50% pressure rate to one of the worst and slowest pressure rate DL's in the league last year:

Most of that generated pressure didn't occur immediately, as Kansas City's quick pressure rate was just 15.2 percent (21st in the NFL), while its average time to pressure was 2.78 seconds (26th in the NFL).

Some of you should be licking Brock's nuts for even giving us a chance in this one.

Throw in that Kyle went against the run and our WR's struggled getting separation timely again, it's a small miracle we made it to O.T.

PS: Looking forward to seeing who they bring in in wave 2 and 3 of FA and their priority in the draft. I don't expect any improvements this year as any rookie we bring in now is unlikely to play significant snaps. It'll be more about next year+, IMHO.

They just lost two of the best offensive weapons in the nfl. They did not actually retain most of their talent.
With Feliciano back I think the obvious focus is RT and Center. I think we will finally see quite a few o linemen taken by us next draft.

1. Williams is rarely available so no he's not one of the best offensive weapons.
2. when I wrote that Keenan Allen had not been traded.
3. they still have a bunch of their talent and a FQB
Someone on Reddit dreaming about Tyron Smith.

Does the guy even play RT?

Not on offense they don't.

Harbaugh is rebuilding the Chargers in the mold of the 9ers team. D will have to carry the day. Having Jonathan Goodwin as your assistant QB coach tells you all you need to know about how they prioritize Herbert development.

A Greg Roman/Marc Trestman brain trust will not build a long term winner there. He has to change it up at some point if he wants to be successful.

He did some for Dallas. But he's a medical question mark with all his back issues.
