It's the right draft to do that in. Just hope they use one high pick on a corner for once. Get more talent in the secondary please.

Not on offense they don't.

Harbaugh is rebuilding the Chargers in the mold of the 9ers team. D will have to carry the day. Having Jonathan Goodwin as your assistant QB coach tells you all you need to know about how they prioritize Herbert development.

A Greg Roman/Marc Trestman brain trust will not build a long term winner there. He has to change it up at some point if he wants to be successful.

I think as long as they have Herbert, Slater can stay healthy and JH establishes the run I think they will be fine. Still not sure why they traded Allen though.

Will depend on how good the defense is next year. The offensive staff is as low quality as the staff he had here. I don't see a successful offense despite Herbert's ability.

I'd be pretty surprised if they are a playoff team. Too many other teams are more talented with set coaching staffs.

Will be interesting. Always felt they had top shelf talent at the key positions, but yes a lot will be contingent on D, which I think will be very good if healthy

Agreed
Can't wait to see what he does with the chargers: they actually retained most of their talent and have some good picks and Herbert

They just lost two of the best offensive weapons in the nfl. They did not actually retain most of their talent.

You forgot ekeler, who despite a down year last year, is a top 10 nfl back. Gus Edwards is not Ekeler. I wasn't talking about Williams, who when healthy is actually quite productive.

I was looking the other day at WR cap hits. #1 in NFL. K Allen. After seeing that I wasn't surprised at what went down.

I can see this exact scenario. the top tackles keep getting mocked before us. Even the best guard and center, which means a quality secondary player falls to us we didn't expect to be there.

You know I want, and almost all of us agree they need to reload the o-line this year and next regardless, but if the scenario above comes true than I am fine with corner as bpa there for sure. They just better spend the next few rounds on good o line prospects!

the way to handle the draft if you are drafting late round 1, means target interior OL. You can get one of the better inside OL, at end of round 1. Then take your T in day 2. Granted you don't get a high end T, but it is what it is.

That's been my thinking. Maybe a tackle they like is there, so take him, but I keep seeing Barton and Johnson gone right before us and they are the two first round iol guys at this time. If they are gone along with the tackles, but a starting caliber corner fell... OK. Of course, imo that forces us to find a tackle/iol next round or two, but I would rather force it there than in round 1 since that corner should be the day 1 guy opposite ward and that keeps lenoir in the slot etc.
I like bringing Feleciano back as he is better than Burford. But we did almost nothing to improve this unit. It's still our biggest weakness and we made a big mistake not fixing it.

What fix in FA should they have done?

Hopefully Purdy doesn't get hurt because of it.

We'll see what they do come draft time, but unless they draft an OL with their first pick, we'll most likely be seeing Mcvitiz at right tackle again.

Yeah, the OL draft is most likely for next year when we owe Brock the big bucks. But get them now to start training Banks-style. Maybe work in a talented C and G with Brendel and Feliciano.

Ekeler hasn't been a top talent for a while and Edwards fits the mold of what JH wants to do imo
