Extremely happy to walk away with 2 of 3 guys I liked on my board, and another versatile player who I didn't get a chance to scout but like most of the tools now after I got to see him. I agree with Kiper that Kingston was a good pick and solid value in the sixth.

I would love to see Puni, Nugent, and Kingston replace Burford, Zakelj, and Banks or Bartch if either are not retained after this year.

I'll just add that Puni and Kingston are a welcome addition to the OLine Squad, and look like good material to develop under Foerster. I think there is enough OLine talent there now, to absorb the loss of Trent Williams for a couple of regular games. Unlike last year when they pretty much lost every game that Trent Williams didn't play in.

Good article.

Brock completed 23 passes vs the Chiefs in SB.

He was pressured 19x!!

lol I literally said the same thing in rookie Kingstons thread
One way to look at it, since we are bringing back all 5 starters, if one of the rookies starts then that should mean the OL improved over last year.

Punani alongside Moore & Felatio

I read it this morning and didn't make much of it, there's a lotta guesswork at play in that article, although I'll concede its internal logic is sound provided the author's assumptions are correct. But the only guys that know that are in Santa Clara and they don't talk much.

The main takeaway for me was further (paper) confirmation that Puni will enhance the physicality of the line. Time will tell, though.

Between last year's dramatic differentials in success rates when going left (the physical side of the line) and going right (the side that gets blown up) coupled with having witnessed what happened in the early 90s when our small, fast, and shifty O-lines ran into larger, more physical and just as fast D-lines, I'm hoping that the Puni pick represents a shift in the priorities that we value along the O-line. We frequently get away with being smarter and quicker, but there are a few very important teams that can take those advantages from us with their physicality. It's difficult to be smart and shifty when you've been knocked on your butt.

That's how I see it, but I'm likely wrong, too. Time will tell.

It would feel sooo good if that happens. WTF were we talking about again.

This is a great thought as Feliciano was a Center for the Giants so it could be a realistic scenario.

The OL didnt fail 19/23 times. The Chiefs blitzed over and over again and we were not able to punish them so they kept pressuring. Nobodys a deep threat. Deebo and Kittle are great players, but they are not beating man coverage quickly.

The article is fine. Puni was a great pick for us and is very versatile.

Yup. When you send more guys thsn the offense can block you will get pressure. That's the point. Gotta be able to win quickly and hit against that pressure. 9ers weren't able to.

Bingo! Adding multiple WRs that can get separation quickly will help pass-pro as well.

Chris Jones has been a factor in both superbowl losses. It makes sense to deal with him in this years draft. Good chance 49ers will meet him again in Superbowl 2024 if Mahomes stays relatively healthy.
