I like Brandon's measurables. They are very Trent Williams-esque. But Trent has the INtangibles to go with his Tangibles. Brandon hasn't really done much in his career. I hope Foerster can pull something out of him, but I give it a 50/50 chance.

However if he does develop a la Brunskill/Brendal we'll have a special player for sure.

Tomlinson benefited big time - enough to get a better contract when he left. He wasn't so good w/the Jets.

Hopefully we can get a cap casualty or grab someone on another team's practice squad to improve the OLine.
Agree. The OLine play as a unit, generally speaking. So between an above average OLine vs a "good" OLINE, the "good" OLine should be leagues better than the above average OLine. That's why losing Feliciano and putting Burford in weakened that OLine tremendously in the Superbowl. (on the right side) The sum is greater than the parts - in the case of the OLine - in a sense.

Yes and why I wanted to try and upgrade Center. He benefits everyone the most imo.

A good center does affect the guys to the left and right of him, so I don't disagree with that. But I felt the weakest spot on the OLine last year was right guard. They addressed that in this draft, and they also addressed your center concerns, in a sense, because guards have transitioned to center positon fairly often. Sapoulu and Randy Cross come to mind. So I think Puni could beat Brendal out - but Puni will need a year at minimum to do that. Puni can start at guard right away though.

While this sound great I do not see this happening. The starting 5 are going to be the same with Feliciano starting and both Puni and Kingston being back up. Next year Banks will walk and Puni will be starting Left Guard. All the same problem will be there. With the 49ers Trent has missed games every year. He will most likely miss games again and they still have zero players as a future start behind him. After Trent Williams, Kyle places little value on the o line. Trent and Banks are probably the only player that would starters on other team around the league.

You haven't watched much of the league play then. McKivitz was better than any tackle on the Chiefs roster in 2023 for example.

Yeah it makes sense. We have to have our fingers crossed everyone stays healthy.

Not true, the Chiefs tackles were great a holding Bosa during the superbowl (holding ignored by the refs)

I don't think that you are correct:

McKivitz 2023 stats:
Accounted for 26% of pressures the 49ers allowed
Allowed 47 quarterback pressures
Allowed nine sacks
Pro Football Focus gave him a score of 65.2, which ranked sixth among the 49ers' offensive linemen.

What about the Chiefs OT stats?

I do not pay for any ranking site. For KC I think Donovan Smith is a better Tackle. He was inured last year, so his ranking is probably lower then McKivitz. One of the best ability is availability. However I think he a better tackle. I didn't literally go thought ever tackle in the league and check to see who is better. I could see a team picking up McKivitz as a short time starter while they draft his replacement. He is a nice player, someone you want on the team to come in at at any position on the line and play 4 or 5 game while someone is injured. I don't see any team thinking this guy is it. Get him and we are set for the next 5 to 10 years. I team like Denver would pick him up have him start while they build the team, as soon as they are good he would be gone.

It's not a bottom feeding O-line though. You don't have generational offensive stats with a chump change O-Line. It's plenty good on the left side. Brendal is a pro-bowl alternate, for what it's worth. CMC was a league leader on the ground running primarily behind Banks and Trent. Mckivitz - I thought - ended the year strong with decent play against some top notch edge rushers in the playoffs and did OK in the Superbowl.

Feliciano, was an impressive find. I still have hopes Burford, Zakelj, and Moore continue to get stronger and challenge the starters. They better because I think Puni can start.

I think the 49ers really did a good job in loading up the O-Line with some great undrafted/free agent athletes too. Foerster has proven to be able to develop those kinds of athletes. Brendel/Brunskill being great examples of Foerster's coaching ability in that area.

I mean he did say in 2023,...lol.

The main reason the Chiefs won is that Mahomes guy.
