The Oline is my biggest FEAR. There is no way Kap or Hyde or Boldin or VD can do their thing onviously with no blocking. Thats why I'm so ticked at Balke for not drafting an OLINEMAN earlier or signing a "Quality" veteran olinemen instead of just depending on ACL Thomas and Bills reject Pears. This is the tell tale sign of the 2015 49ers. If the Oline Holds up, no doubt in my mind the 49ers will be GOOD in 2015 however if the Oline is JUNK (as expected by many) then 2015 could be a "tank" year.

Since kap and Hyde can make plays I think pass pro for kap and the offense is much more important than run blocking. Our offense will take a huge jump is pass pro improves just a bit which I think we will (on the 52 sacks).
I think this is the biggest point right here...can we REALLY be worse than this? Our OL has been horrendous in PP and that is with probably, the second most mobile/elusive QB in the game.

Well the oline (especially pass blocking) was strait trash last year, so I don't think it can get much worse lol...pears is actually decent at pass blocking and was much better in ZBS, which I hope we will see a lot of this year..iupati was the worse pass blocking olinmen on the starting squad IMO.
I'd like to see what Boone and Staley can do together on the left side this season and M Martin looks like his in very good shape, also the the reason they didn't draft a lineman early is because Thomas is basically a rookie this season...what's the point in spending two 3rd round picks on players if you don't plan on letting them play?
We will just have to see!

Yup, OL is my biggest concern as well...more b/c we haven't seen THIS personnel in a ZBS and b/c we're MOVING to a ZBS slowly from Power. I genuinely think it's the right thing to do but it's the biggest unknown thus far. But I can't wait to start analyzing it this pre season. From a personnel standpoint (in my Nolan voice), it does appear to now be best suited for a ZBS and no doubt, Tomsula has emphasized fitness/diet big time as well as tempo...that's a great indication we're going to be on the move quickly at times and trying to dictate the defense. This means, most likely, less time needed to sustain blocks both in the running and passing games. Tempo alone can help neutralize DL often. Damnit...2 more weeks!

It's very likely the OL will have a rocky start but will settle down midseason. But as last year was a season full of injuries they are just as likely to have better health this coming year! By playoff time they could offer CK a bit of time...in an actual pocket!

I've heard of this thing called a "pocket" for the quarterback; I think it looks something like this:

I tend to agree w/the "rocky start" BUT I hope we are both dead wrong. We'll see/
I feel they'll use both the Power & ZBS and transition more and more into the ZBS as we get more proficient in it.

Even if the OL personnel are "better" than last year, they will not have played together as a group and they will be using different schemes. IMHO this season is a lost cause.

Was the season a "lost cause" last year when Boone was out all camp, Davis wasn't even in the lineup and Kilgore was starting at C?

Is that that thing you can order pizza from? Safety zone to tie your shoes?

I'm just assuming you predicted last year was going to be a lost cause too...you know...for consistency? If so, I'll bow out now to avoid any disappointment this year. Thank you so much!

In my opinion, the OL will be a problem because it will take time for the personnel to jell, and because the system is being changed. I do not think this will all come together by mid-season, but will be an ongoing problem (along with several others) all season long. We'll see how it plays out.
