Not 100% and so young! I expect him to be a mainstay on the line for many, many years! Just wonder what his best position is--center or guard. I'm hoping he starts at guard because I believe Kilgore may be a bit ahead at calling line plays...but with the new sceme who knows!?

Agree

I also think Kilgore is underrated
Staley, Thomas, Kilgore, Martin, Boone can be a pretty good unit.

That sounds about right as a viable ideal lineup...Thomas needs to grow and grow quickly. I'm curious to see how Kilgore responds to that injury, Martin is slim and hungry for RG, Boone would cream his pants if we let him play T, etc. This, by FAR, is the only real concern/camp battle to me to watch and watch with a magnifying glass esp. as we transition in the ZBS.

Agree! Would like to know the feelings of Tomsula and Baalke about the future of Boone. If they decide to sign him long term he can move to RT and then wait for Staley to retire and move left. If they didn't like his attitude last year they may be ready to move on and will try to develop a different player at RT...Brown or ?

The most encouraging news from him this offseason os that he's been killing it in the weightroom. I really think the defining weakness in his game last year was strength. If he's addressed that issue, the sky's the limit.

Yeah on insta he has a video of him box squatting 500 ibs for reps. not incredibly strong for a man of his size but still pretty good.

I think Boone has his work cut out for him if he's going to beat Pears - as it should be. Boone wants tackle money, he's going to need to earn it.

Looks like boone is starting at LG.

Totally on-board w/that.
Just a wild guess, but I bet by midseason we have a rook break into the OL as starter. He casts a tall, wide shadow.
Even though m Martin wasn't completely healthy, dont all of you remember seeing him getting abused and lost all season long? No push, bad pass pro, reminds me of another stud guard from USC in chilo rachal. Now I know Martin may be better but dam. I'd give Thomas a chance at guard before Martin. At least Thomas held clooney in check and is established as a good pass protector and run blocker.

The guy was 20 years old and injured...I think that gives him a pass for last year. By all accounts he has a great attitude, intelligence, leadership qualities and has worked hard in the off season to get stronger. But in the end he has to perform on the field and we can never know just how good he is until it's demonstrated.

Agree.

I'm totally a Kilgore guy at center.

But when you take into account the injuries Martin had etc and his age - I think he's going to be a star.

I think Trent made a solid move getting Martin and Thomas.

And w/TC right around the corner - we'll all soon see!
