How much better would the line be if we acquired Evan Mathis on a one or two year deal? Would the O line even be better?

I think yes, by a decent margin. The only lineman I trust is Staley.

In emoticons, our O line is as follows......

I don't want Mathis

You don't want the top rated OG in the league the past couple years
Keeping kap alive and giving time to throw and opening up holes for our rbs is worth 5-6 mil a year. So what if Mathis is 34, he is the top guard for the last 2 years. There are plenty of guards making a s**tload more money per year and aren't as good.....see iupati and many others.

Even if we spend the money on Mathis instead of let's say extending or resigning boon next year it would be worth it to have Mathis for 2-3 years. Our offense will definitely improve with Mathis and so will kap. It will cover up some o the problems we may have this year on defense as well bc we will be able to put up more points with good ol play.

Well worth it.
I don't want mathis for this year. Training camp has gone on for two weeks now and no telling how in shape Mathis is in. He may be talented, but look what happened to boone last year. He wasn't right last year PARTIALLY because he missed so much training camp. With a new scheme, losing two plus weeks is crucial.
It's good the coaches know whether they should pick up Mathis...or not. If they are worried about Thomas, Martin and Kilgore being starters then fine, sign Mathis. But if they believe they have the makings of a great young line...

Agree - I don't feel any panic from them based on what I'm reading.

Lol so Martin who was atrocious last season and Pears who is not a tackle IMO In any scheme get the benefit of doubt but you turn your nose up at one of the best rated guards in the league? Typical Web zone homerism.
well s**t...

That sucks. Not only do I absolutely hate Dallas and want then to be 0-16 I hate that they got a guy with 1st round talent.

Other than the fact that he's holding, great block. But look where his right hand is - that's a holding call 75% of the time in a game.

Plus, he's on a linebacker. We'll see if he can knock Carradine, Dial or Armstead off the line. If he can do that, I'll be impressed.

Only reason this makes me smile is because they play the Seahawks.

true...i just liked him coming out of LSU because he had the ability to play T or could kick inside to G....when he started sliding, but it appeared he had no connection to the murder, i was really hoping they would nab him in the 4th/5th.

Didn't I read that Pears graded out better as a tackle than a guard? Or were those national rankings homerisms?
