Can't wait to see Kaepernick get back to playing like this again!

I can't wait to see Kaepernick get started playing like this against Seattle. These highlights were all against Green Bay and Carolina.

2013 NFCCG Kap was our entire offense. Run game was going no where and for the most part our receivers got shut down. Had it not been for Kap it would have been a blow out. I'm sure the naysayers will point to the last throw though, even though that play should have never EVER been called. We had plenty of time to March down the field or call a time out if need be.

I am not sure that Luck is overrated, but I do think that Colin Kaepernick is underrated by many posters.

Here is a table (compiled from ESPN's splits) of Kaepernick's and Luck's Red Zone Passing for the last three years.

edit: The career red zone passing rating, I just used excel to average their ratings for the last three years.

If we look at what Kaepernick and Luck have done in the Red Zone in the NFL, forgetting their college careers, they seem to have very similar stats.

I would dare say that both Kaepernick and Luck could stand to improve their red zone numbers.

Thanks Buck! The reason I say that is he gets too much credit for really accomplishing nothing while playing indoors for 8 games, in a crappy division against crap teams. He gets to the playoffs and promptly s**ts the bed every year. The continue to tell us how great he is yet he's done NOTHING great.

To be fair, he has made it one game further in the playoffs each year. Hard to say that he "promptly s**ts the bed every year" when you look at the trend. He has had some bad playoff games, but he's also put up some unreal numbers. And he's still young.

Edit: I see crabman82 made this exact same point in the Colts thread. Feel free to disregard or hash it out over there. This is the Kap thread, after all.

This issue and reason for the post is he gets credit from webzone posters for nothing and Kaep gets s**t on from the same posters even though he's played better against better teams in the same moments.

Right. Lot's of posters around here are careful to be fair when discussing Luck. With Kaepernick, not so much.

I agree that being fair is important.

Given the similarities between Luck and Kaepernick, at least in their Red Zone stats, I would suggest that many posters do not seem very willing to extend that fairness to Kaepernick.

But, make no mistake. Kaepernick, and Luck for that matter, needs to improve his game.

I think, and hope, that Kaepernick and the 49er offense will be much better in the coming year.

I do not really care one whit how Luck and the Colt offense do in the coming year.

The problem last year was that the HC just built up Kaep big time..

saying all kinda crap like how Kaep knows his offense inside out and all he needed do is send him a play and Kaep will know what to do..

suddenly, Gonzopernick believed the hyped as well, thinking and acting like he's Peyton w/the pre-snap reads on defenses.. formation changes.. reading what really isn't there.. audibles.. then the clock will run out, or just out-smart himself on doing all those which often resulted into nothing..

This year, I hope they just made the offense simple, and let him take what the defense gives him.. he's not ready to take what he wants "per say", just make sure to have a good and a balance offensive game plan and he'll be fine..

Other then the fact that they have heavily utilized formational and presnap player movement ever since harbaugh got there, and the QB always had to read the defense and audible to the right play, and that play clock issues have been here since 2011 because of all the things that I just listed. But, yeah other then that youre right. Its just Kaep's big ego, not the injuries to the oline, lack of a running game, no TE production, slow Wr's, or bad play calling. I wonder if you actually have watched the niners prior to last year, or do you just forget everything you ever saw from prior seasons?

That cuts both ways. Lots of other posters around here are always willing to give Kap a pass and are happy to pile on coaching or the O line or other aspects of the team. They then turn around and dump on other QBs around the league (Luck and Wilson being common targets) for a bad play or performance. You'll never see them acknowledge the inconsistency of their criticisms, though.

If you can't see that it cuts both ways, then I don't think it's worth continuing this discussion.

Edit: The point of my post was to correct a misleading statement. If you think that getting further into the playoffs every year is "promptly s**tting the bed," please explain. Fact transcends fandom for some of us.

If Kap and Luck are similar, and Luck is overrated, does that mean Kap is overrated by some of the over-the-top guys in this thread?

Edit: To be clear, I know that you are not saying Luck is overrated. I am just distilling what I am seeing on this page.

^^^ I don't see even Kaepernick's biggest supporters giving him a pass. I don't remember ANYONE ever trying to argue that he's a finished product. I've never seen ANY Kaepernick supporter deny that he needs work.

On the other hand, I see lots of posters pretending that he hasn't performed in the playoffs, still arguing that he can't go through reads and calling him names.

If you don't see that, then yes, it's not worth continuing the discussion.
