If you put Gabbert out there and he plays well, the coaching staff ends up being put in the midst of a QB controversy that I think they are hoping to avoid. I predicted that we wouldn't see Gabbert at all, no matter how big the Rams lead got. This staff can't bringing itself to permanently bench Devey, no way do they have the balls to deal with a QB swap.

You have a coaching staff that is trying to be buddies with everyone and seemingly paralyzed by the thought of benching anyone.

Not really... In terms of the QB taking a step back and finding confidence , it's the same difference IMO. As I said sometimes a team will rally around a backup(benched/injured), and find its groove. Suddenly the original starting QB comes back and the rest of the team has taken a step forward, making life for the QB a little easier. I think redundancy can reall hold a team back sometimes.

I'm not saying Gabbert is the answer, but he brings different aspects that Kaep doesn't. The team "MAY" rally around him and find a groove. Andrew Luck for example was averaging 250 yards, 1.5 tds, and a 65 rating earlier. After sitting on the bench he's averaged 315 and 3 tds and a 90 rating.

I understand Luck is still losing, but I think he's playing better. I don't think anyone is asking Kaep to do it by himself, but he's got to show something.

Luck wasn't benched he was injured big difference.

His injury is ongoing / lingering and he still plays through it.

That had zero to do with what he was talking about, he was out because he was hurt not because he was benched. We are talking about benching Kap to clear his head or whatever, they didn't do that in Indy not even close.

I know, I just wanted to (also) throw that out there. I'll take Luck over Kaep any day. He actually knows how to read defenses and (IMHO) helped Harbs get his NFL gig sooner than later...

Clearly playing him isn't either.

There is no QB controversy... Kap is not the future so who cares what him or Gabbert think about any of this..... Screw both of them.... Build line then get a qb in draft

I'm sorry I totally disagree, a player not being on the field because he's hurt is wayyyy different than your coach benching you because of your poor play.

A one-trick pony is quickly exposed in this league.

He had vision and accuracy when he blasted Chicago on MNF. Is problems are all mental. He's damaged right now. He needs to sit and get his mind right. It worked for Alex. It's a mind f**k

Yeah, but the guy that fixed Alex is gone now...

False, look at the second half of the 2010 season, he was putting it all together before JH

I get what you are saying, but I'm more or less saying maybe it would light a fire under his, and the teams, ass.

Sorry to bring Alex up, but him nearly getting benched saved his career. He started playing better after that point.

There it is in a nutshell IMO. Players need leaders, not friends.
The season is over, it doesn't matter if they bench Kraep! The only good thing about this season is that Kraep is DONE with the 49ers! He will not be back next season and all the Kraep lovers will have to find a new team to root for. The biggest mistake Harbozo made was making Kraep the starting QB. Harbozo thought he could turn water into wine and left us with this POS QB. Thank god for basketball!
