What's lost in all of this is what happens when you have poor coaching and a poor O-line.
QB's get a little shell shock when they get hit and under pressure a lot. I guess a lot of people here have forgotten the days of Alex Smith when he would throw the ball out of bounds and hit the deck a lot when he though that things were closing in on him.
Same thing has happened to Colin Kaepernick and it's going to happen to whoever takes his place as long as the 49er's keep the same coaches and don't fix the O-line.
Those of you who think that Gabbert will do a lot better, better think again. At the current state of the 49er's, NO QB is going to shine in this system.
Yes, Kaep has regressed and it's time for him to go elsewhere where he can get is confidence back. Right now and for the lack of a better word "He's a broken QB" and will NOT improve anytime soon. Bottom line is: He needs a new system. I just feel sorry for the next QB in line who is going to get sacked and pressured just as much as Alex and Colin with an inadequate system.
Remember Brady at the beginning of last year with Devey?

I mean, Tom Brady's job security was in question last year due to his play. Guess what the Pats did with Devey and wha thappened to Brady afterwards?

Now Mangini is a good DC...Geep and Kaepernick are horrible. What happens next week? Stay tuned to As the Zone Turns...

I can see it now. We'll reach for a statue that plays in a pro style offense and then look bewildered when he struggles. Rinse and repeat. If we get a player with promise I won't have an issue with it. But my god if we reach for a pro style QB just because, I'll be pissed.

Yep. Devey's fault. Should have given Kaep more time to read the defense.

Literally the worst guard in the NFL.

What does that one play have to do with anything? That play does not make Devey any better than the worst rated lineman in the league. Pears too. Martin is pretty low. Were you one of the astute people that were calling for Brady's benching last year too?

Maybe Kap has an undiagnosed medical condition. Has he ever been given a thorough eye examination by a licensed optometrist? Sometimes it takes a while to notice vision problems, most people just assume they see like everyone else till proven different.
tun·nel vi·sion
noun
noun: tunnel vision
defective sight in which objects cannot be properly seen if not close to the center of the field of view.
This could explain why he didn't see an uncovered Smith and Boldin.

This was the play that broke my long-standing feeling that Kaepernick could turn into a top franchise QB. It's not just Smith. Patton is also jumping up and down because both corners are moving in for the run. A QB simply HAS to see one of those guys and check out of that run at the last second even if every other player except those receivers doesn't know what's going on.

The more you watch this play the more damning it is. Kap could have done any number of things if he would have just lifted his head up and glanced to either side of the field pre snap.
