One thing that annoys me about this 'stupid tweet' conversation is that I've seen occasions around here when someone posts a pic of Kaepernick sitting with a bunch of children with heart disease, playing with them, making their days possibly a little brighter and there will be NO reaction; nada. It's like 'who cares?' Nobody has much to say about something he might have done right outside of football, but when he makes an obvious mistake, it's like a shark feeding frenzy.

This bothers me as well. By all accounts he is a good guy who has done a great deal of good which is overlooked. I guess people expect it or think he's doing it for photo ops, but that's a very cynical view. I would love to see him learn to be a bit more discrete but so be it! I'm not going to bash someone for not being completely mature...would run out of people to talk to...including myself!

Good one! Still, it's hard for me to understand someone who thinks Kaepernick does the Childrens' Heart Disease camp and events for photo ops when it's been reported that the reason he funds the camp is in honor of his parents who lost two babies to the disease.

What Camp does Kaepernick fund?

Granted, I don't use FB, Twitter, IG, Snapchat, or anything of the like, but from what I have seen, isn't social media pretty much all about getting attention? All these social media platforms are a narcissist's wet dream...or topic for another day, do they create the narcissist? And if you're saying I "hate" (such an overused term...just like "amazing") Kaepernick, you're wrong, merely expressing my opinion on something he put out there for public consumption.

I do not follow much but thought some people follow news, sports and the arts on social media...sort of immediate news. I've seen tweets referenced from sports beat writers that are scoops.

He used his lame slogan in a "hey look at me" attention-seeking post...not sure how that's not pimping his brand. But I digress...not for a second did I think he was being malicious...just very unaware and obtuse.

As I said, I've been a staunch supporter of him as a player, and still think he's capable of great things...but he should give strong consideration to putting the whole social media thing to bed for a while.
I don't know how you can say with confidence that hes doing this for attention? I don't even know the guy personally much less know what hes thinking or feeling, this hash tag thing is just the way people talk now on social media, not sure why its being made into a big deal? I would almost always agree with you when it comes to social media (with most sports entertainers) however Kap is mild compared to others so I don't get the hate.

No I don't know if you "hate" Kap I just mean the hate he gets in general. But the fact that you don't use any of those social media sites I can say a fair statement would be that your a little bias in the negative direction? No i kid but If your a narcissist then yes it probably is a place you would go to boost your ego, but I feel most people like me go there to socialize with people you may or may not know. I respect your opinion tho

In his defense...everything is attributed to karma if you believe in karma. Wasn't necessarily a personal statement.

Karma is just blaming the victim dressed up in trite religious platitudes.

So both Hinduism and Buddhism should be dismissed out of hand?

I saw nothing there about telling everyone how your kid made the honor roll "AGAIN!!!", you almost died from your intense workout, or taking a picture of the Asian chicken salad you had for lunch. Well done.

seriously? Is this really still a topic.

Jeez...just step back and think of all the things you've ever said and imagine if you were famous and they were blasted all over the internet. What would people say about YOU? Sure...he put it up on instagram. Bad move...can peeps freakin' chill about it though? Get over it. People make mistakes. Its human. I don't care if he's a QB or a mens room attendant. RELAX.

Peeps be living in serious glass houses.

i dont understand these constant comparisons from famous people to everyday people. everyone makes mistakes, but if you were famous and in the spot light chances are you'd be a lot more aware of how things come off if you do it as opposed to that garage door repair man nobody cares about. i dont think this incident is a huge deal at all, but its truly comparing apples to oranges. the mere fact he has had a couple of minor incidents (dolphins hat, fights with "fans" on twitter) shows a slight pattern of immaturity. i'm just wondering where the line is where you finally get it, hes turning 28 after all.

Here's the rub tho...

...SHOULD he know that what he says will be blown up? Sure...but he's human. He makes mistakes. Famous people are regular people that everyone knows. They don't have a superhuman ability to not make mistakes.

He screwed up. He knows it. He apologized. Not sure why it needs to be rehashed.
