he did try with AJ and LMJ.....both just ended up sucking. And what did we really ever do with Ginn?

Offensive efficiency rankings:
2012: Rushing 3rd Passing 5th
2013: Rushing 14th Passing 4th
2014: Rushing 8th Passing 21st
Efficiency rankings are interesting. But, I'm more of a bottom line kind of guy and a team needs to score points on offense to win a lot of games. So, I'm usually going to look at rankings in terms of points scored.
2014: 25th
2013: 11th
2012: 11th
Sorry, but that doesn't look like progress to me. I'm not satisfied with a Niner offense ranked 25th in points scored. Why would anyone be satisfied with that?

smh.
Back-to-back 11th ranked scoring offenses and that's not enough. No credit for that? I'm not going to say it was a perfect storm, but hardly anything went right for the offense last year, as far as hold-outs, injuries, and lack luster performances.
The performance to me ties in more with the shaken up offensive line than it does anything else.

Even among all the FO/coaching turmoil...
Even amidst being without half of our Pro-Bowl talent and key starters for much of the year...
Even playing in the toughest division in the NFL...
We finished 8-8, and really 3 plays from being 11-5. A blown coverage against the Chargers, a fluke fumbled snap on a QB sneak, and a Michael Crabtree dropped TD late in the game vs. the Bears, and we would be an 11 W team in the playoffs.
Football is a game where dumb luck can make you or break you no matter how good you are. Pretty much every playoff team every year has a handful of W's that were decided by 1-2 plays that could have gone either way.
Any other coach except for maybe Bill Belichick, and we would have completely tanked and won like 4 or 5 games max.
Some of these complaints hold the rationale of an ungrateful, petulant child.
Complaints ring to me as people desperately trying to defend Jed.
Going forward, I'm rooting my ass off for Tomsula, but the ragging on Harbaugh is perplexing. He's a part of 49ers' history whether some like to admit it or not.
haha preach on my brothers.

11th isn't bad for 2 years in a row especially when you have an elite D, but 25th is pretty unacceptable, even with an elite D. Which is why the D was ALWAYS on the field last year. But, for the offense everything sucked last year. On paper we had a pretty talented team last season but nothing was right offensively. Coaching/schemes, WRs, QB play, injuries, incredibly stupid penalties (some deserved, some horrible calls), and perhaps the biggest thing Offensive line play.
I wouldn't complain about 11th ranked scoring offense, but even an elite D can't carry a team all the way when they are ranked 25th in scoring points

Do you think Kap, under any tutelage, would have been ready to spread it around to a bunch of possession receivers with a porous o-line?

Not really. I believe the horrid offensive line play was the biggest factor in our offense sucking so bad last year. The importance of a good offensive line can't be overstated because they make everything work in football. Sh*tty O-line makes everything on offense suck or at least hinders it quite a bit

Harbaugh is no longer here. Why keep fighting about what could have been under his rule?
What Kaepernick will do in the coming year just seems more important than what he might have done last year without a porous line.
I for one am glad that Kaepernick spent his off-season working on his skill set.
I hope the offensive line provides better protection in the coming year.
Looking forward to the games that are coming.

It's the offseason and I disagree with certain narratives, it's not like there is a lot else going on.
I am too, I think he was getting a little caught up in himself being this physical freak. Maybe he was trying to edge himself over Cam Newtown? Had some of that Brady anger going on. I think the results of his work with Gile will surprise a lot of people.
Looking forward to after the next two weeks and on.

I think this is from today.
Davis said he's been running routes with Colin Kaepernick after voluntary workouts.
The 49ers tight end was pleased with his quarterback's progress following an offseason in which the fifth-year passer worked with Kurt Warner in Arizona.
"He's just trying to get better, same as me," Davis said. "I'm just trying to get better. Every year that we come back here we want to improve on something. And he's improving on whatever it is that he wants to improve on."
The tight end-quarterback relationship also appears to be growing this offseason. But it goes beyond that. Davis said the positivity is team-wide right now.
"The energy around here is fantastic," Davis said. "Guys don't want to leave. I mean I'm here. I'm still here. Normally I'd be out of here, but I just feel some great energy and working with the guys has just been great. Just being back here, it's been a little while since we've all been together. I'm just having a great time here just learning as much as I possibly can from the new staff and just taking it all in and just enjoying it."

Were you satisfied with the progress of the offense over the last four years? Did you like the scheme? Did it seem a bit predictable to you? It certainly was predictable enough for NFC West defensive players to call out plays before the ball was snapped.

Agree! Having four centers during the year should be a dead give away as to the problems on offense! Any change in the center usually takes some time to work out the kinks...four changes...ouch!
