If it wasn't a showcase, then at least it was a confidence builder.
Either way, I think he's still a ways from being in top game shape. He still looks weaker than his old self.
came out of the gate quick and looked better than anyone. except his 100 per cent loyal backers( and i did not mean that in a bad way guys

Now let's talk about his football...

He played much better even tho it was against back ups but he also had back up playing with him. I think he will make the team as the #2 and maybe he gets a shot later in the year. Either way we need to draft a QB high in the draft.

He still didn't look as comfortable as Gabbert, but played well enough to get the backup position IMO. He seemed a little slow picking up his receivers to me, but I think that's understandable considering his lack of playing time.
I still want Gabbert starting the season.

Kap had a decent game but the Chargers were playing a very basic D with back ups. The throw he put on Dres at the 1 had some nice zip on it, but looked like it should have been picked. At this point, he is what he is... A back up QB.

considering all the time he missed in the offseason learning a new system he did pretty good. Not perfect. lets be real Gabbert hasn't been lighting it up either and he has been there since the start.

Not bad for a QB who is still getting used to live action.

the comment made by sus in regards to ck playing with backups. HAS to be a factor when you look at his game in my opinion.. as far as the rest of his comments..... sus said nothing wrong

Here's my assessment of last night...
They ran SUPER BASIC offensive plays, playing against a backup practice squad defense, facing SUPER BASIC defensive scheme, in the 4th game of the pre-season, AND HE STILL LOCKS ONTO 1 WR.

And Gabbert had offseason passing camps with our receivers. He should have looked better in my opinion. He is still our best option but that's not saying much at all.

They're both going to start games this season. Injuries, getting benched etc. Don't see a scenario where 1 guy starts all 16.

Ya, pretty much. His accuracy did look like it improved a bit. But same old late throws, stare downs, and locking on to a WR.
