Yup. Gabbert sucks badly and Kap will have to come in eventually.

If not, you have absolutely no idea if he is going to his first read and/or not going through progressions. It is possible to move your eyes without moving your head.

Additionally - Chips offense isn't predicated on scanning the field as much as it is take the first available opening and get back to the line of scrimmage for another - slow developing plays while scanning the field isn't on the menu.

Go Kaep, Go!

Just two concerns regarding Kaep remaining a 49er.

One, is that I wonder if his off-field interests/endeavors will keep him from being ready/prepared/useful, if he needs to step in at QB1.

Two, is I worry that another injury will handcuff the 49ers into having to keep him for the next season yet again.

Kap has become a really lousy football player. He seems far more interested in becoming a semi illiterate activist than becoming a better QB. I say, let him go..

He and his "cause" have become a constant sideshow and organizational embarressment.
They are not mutually exclusive. Why does his off-the-field stuff always have to be linked with what he's doing with his life? It's just a narrative. He doesn't suck at football because he's in GQ photoshoots or because he's involved in activism, he sucks simply because he isn't a good football player.

You don't think his off-field pursuits affect how he prepares for, and views, his position as an NFL QB?

That's like saying spending to much time arguing on the zone effects my job

Well...depends on how you're balancing your work and webzone or personal issues for that matter.

If you're spending too much time and energy dealing with personal life...then obviously it will affect your professional career. Considering NFL is ultra-competitive league that requires way more focus than a regular full-time job...then yes - sooner or later you'll suffer.
That's kind of obvious.

It doesn't mean - he shouldn't have a personal life or he shouldn't do anything outside of football. It just has to be in balance...so he can continue to be the best player he can be. I think it's fair for ppl to question his priorities. If he can't be the player he was...then everyone looks for a reason and the most obvious one from distance seems to be he is distracted by other things in life.
So he sits on the bench for a year barring injury and then gets released. Sad story.

no need to worry

his personal time interests didn't effect him yesterday when this past week's distraction was at its worst locally and nation wide

and if he does get injured, there is enough Cap space to eat his cost

Another long term injury would be an absolute disaster. I'd be calling for Baalke to GTFO at that point because it would be incredibly stupid to put yourself in a position to spend almost $30 mil on a backup QB over 2 seasons.

Cap space that could be going to any number of uses, unless youre under the impression that capspace is unlimited. Burning through $30 mil over two years for a guy who is a subpar quarterback is an extraordinary waste of resources.

it's seems almost unlimited as we wont over spend on average players. So there's plenty of room to cut and eat Kaeps contract next year

Note I said (based on helmet movement). However, it was very clear that he was not going from middle to sideline or sideline to sideline unless his eyes have a swivel.

Also, we do know that Kelly likes to have an open receiver open quickly, and if that happens, that is where you go. Note my convo with Thl back a couple of pages.
