Great, Gabbert throws a quicker dirt ball.

Even with our O line looking good in pass pro, Kaep, IMO, is not ready to step in as the starter just yet. Kaep has some work to do. He did not look good at all in pre season. He was taking off and running with an open receiver running across the middle of the field. He looked indecisive when he did throw the ball (threw it into triple coverage). He was not confident whatsoever. Until his confidence begins to show, he will not see the field.

The coaches probably came to the same conclusion. Chip mentioned he didn't think Kap was all the way back from his injuries. Not to mention he was behind in getting reps. He looked shaky in the pre-season. There really was no way for him to enter the season as the starter given the circumstances.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I believe in science. And science disagrees with Jed

He had plenty of time, especially compared to the 1st half of last year where the line was getting destroyed up the middle and the right side.
Everyone has noted how well the line played in pass protection, I guess they are just blind.
There's a difference between 2.03 seconds getting rid of the ball without any deress and getting rid of the ball due to intense pressure. Blaine had clean pockets and rushed throws for no reason. 2.03 does not speak to the pass protection, it speaks to the aount of time it took for him to get rid of the ball. There were plays where he could have taken more time.
Quick release means nothing if you're throwing balls into the dirt.
Exhibit A

You mean his very first game? He didn't look good. Looked much better in his 2nd game, though. Neither Kaep nor Blaine looked all that great in the preseason.

why do you get so defensive? I'm a fan of Kaep too, you know?
I think if Gabbert begins to struggle in the next 6 weeks, we may see Kaep around week 7-9 which will be against defenses that would definitely help boost his confidence.
