Great, Gabbert throws a quicker dirt ball.
Even with our O line looking good in pass pro, Kaep, IMO, is not ready to step in as the starter just yet. Kaep has some work to do. He did not look good at all in pre season. He was taking off and running with an open receiver running across the middle of the field. He looked indecisive when he did throw the ball (threw it into triple coverage). He was not confident whatsoever. Until his confidence begins to show, he will not see the field.
Kap did great against LA

You mean his very first game? He didn't look good. Looked much better in his 2nd game, though. Neither Kaep nor Blaine looked all that great in the preseason.

The coaches probably came to the same conclusion. Chip mentioned he didn't think Kap was all the way back from his injuries. Not to mention he was behind in getting reps. He looked shaky in the pre-season. There really was no way for him to enter the season as the starter given the circumstances.

Agreed.

I think Kaep would be fine and even better.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

JCS appreciate the dialog. Nice to be able to disagree on the WZ without being disagreeable.

I believe in science. And science disagrees with Jed

He had plenty of time, especially compared to the 1st half of last year where the line was getting destroyed up the middle and the right side.

Everyone has noted how well the line played in pass protection, I guess they are just blind.

There's a difference between 2.03 seconds getting rid of the ball without any deress and getting rid of the ball due to intense pressure. Blaine had clean pockets and rushed throws for no reason. 2.03 does not speak to the pass protection, it speaks to the aount of time it took for him to get rid of the ball. There were plays where he could have taken more time.

Quick release means nothing if you're throwing balls into the dirt.

Exhibit A

couple things:

- That protection is beautiful
- Gabbert's follow through stemming from his feet just looks awkward. not getting his weight underneath or something. poor follow-through

Thanks for posting this! I've had this argument many times with posters who believed that CK had a slow delivery. That has never been an issue with Kaepernick, nor has accuracy. It's touch with accuracy that has been his main drawback. He can fire a fast ball with 90% accuracy but when you have to loft the ball over a defender it takes a different type of practice. Hopefully with your WRs!

But it clutters up the debate to have inaccurate info being floated. Now it's someone's turn to make me eat my words by demonstrating I'm wrong...

why do you get so defensive? I'm a fan of Kaep too, you know?

I think if Gabbert begins to struggle in the next 6 weeks, we may see Kaep around week 7-9 which will be against defenses that would definitely help boost his confidence.

LOL! You and I are both CK fans but not good enough...we need to work on our adoration.
