Even with our O line looking good in pass pro, Kaep, IMO, is not ready to step in as the starter just yet. Kaep has some work to do. He did not look good at all in pre season. He was taking off and running with an open receiver running across the middle of the field. He looked indecisive when he did throw the ball (threw it into triple coverage). He was not confident whatsoever. Until his confidence begins to show, he will not see the field.

You mean his very first game? He didn't look good. Looked much better in his 2nd game, though. Neither Kaep nor Blaine looked all that great in the preseason.

why do you get so defensive? I'm a fan of Kaep too, you know?

I think if Gabbert begins to struggle in the next 6 weeks, we may see Kaep around week 7-9 which will be against defenses that would definitely help boost his confidence.

LOL! You and I are both CK fans but not good enough...we need to work on our adoration.

maybe I do need to work on that. I just try to be a realist, that's all. I've never bashed any of our players. I'm a fan of the team first and players second though.

We just need to be honest with ourselves. Kaep completed 54% of his passes in the pre season, had 4.9 ypa, had 0 TD's and boasted a 67.5 passer rating. He wasn't ready to start. However, I do believe he has a real shot at starting sometime this season. I do not believe Gabbert has instilled complete confidence in Kelly as of yet and he has had since OTA's to do so.

Not defensive at all. I agreed with you.

You half agreed with me. You also brought up Gabbert to try to make Kaep's performance not seem so bad. Bottom line is, Gabbert did just enough to win the starting job and Kaep did not.

Great, Gabbert throws a quicker dirt ball.

I believe in science. And science disagrees with Jed

Lol sports science. Isn't kaep's career completing percentage about 60%, not very good. And his YPA have dropped every year since 2012. Blaine is the guy, Kaep's best at taking knees so we'll use him exclusively in victory formations. So we can play to his strengths.

Both QB's did not play well in preseason. Hard to talk about one without talking about the other.

Gabbert won....by default. When Chip thinks Kaep is the better option, he will start. If he doesn't think Kaep is the better option, then Kaep will remain on the bench.

When you consider he doesn't have much of a short passing game, the comp % isn't all that big of a deal. QB's who operate whin 10 yards tend to have a higher completion percentage.

Blaine almost exclusively operates a short passing game and his completion percentage is abysmal

Nothig worse than poking fun at Kaep then in the same breath talking up Blaine. Neither QB looks all that good right now.

By saying Blaine is the guy? Lol show me where I've talked up Blaine. I'm well aware of his limitations

It's different in game. We've all seen Kaps slower delivery.

60% completion percentage, averaged about 3000 yards a season
Never threw for more than 3400 yards in a pass happy league but that video speaks volumes. Richard Sherman routinely laughed at our offense too.
Why is there a thread devoted to a demoted second string quarterback? Until he plays who cares what he could do, would have done, did in the past, etc.? Other teams didn't want him and the coaches benched him so if he ever plays again maybe he would warrant some interest. Maybe the thread should be "Wasn't Kap Great Back in the Day?"
