Good idea. Just as we do with other players in every sport...or should!

Edit: just in case your point was aimed at my comparison between CK and Young...my point was more about the coaching they have received and my hope that Young is correct in saying Kaepenick is a better version of himself!

It was not, dtg. I was just saying that as the 2015 season unfolds, I'll be looking at 2015 Kap and seeing how he compares to 2014 Kap, not Luck, not Cam, or Dalton, etc.

This is going to be fun to watch...if you can throw in some of the philosophical and scheme changes/differences too, that could help provide context as well (positively or negatively).

Agreed! The biggest thing I want to see is adjustments! Harbaugh was downright aweful at adjusting the game plan as the game progressed. If the ol looks porous, I want to see them start hitting quick routes, screens, rb chip blocking, designed rollouts, etc. If our coaching staff is halfway decent, this should not be a problem.

That's why I don't like blame going solely on offensive lines, where the qb could just start releasing the ball quicker and calling for faster plays.
Fingers crossed he has a huge year, definitely needs to take a step forward and lead this team.

If I could, I would breakdown each dropback for Kap in each game this season. This way, we'd have the most comprehensive data available once the season ends to see how Kap fared. But then I'd neglect the run game and the new defense.

I know this has been talked about in here many many times...Wilson is elite and it has nothing to do with system BS. Yesterday the "elite" QB had a QB rating of 48.9, had 41attempts (career high) and was sacked 6 times!

Once again system and scheme play a huge part in Wilson's success....I pray that Seattle continues to think Wilson is a in the pocket QB who sliced up secondaries because he's far from that. I hope our coaching staff realizes what we have with Kap and call plays to his stegnths for a change!

RW is not elite. He's a media darling thats why he gets credit, but his QB skills are less than Kaep's and even Alex Smith's. He runs around in circles until someone gets up...the classic Madden glitch. He's one knee injury away from becoming the next RGIII.

Hey I agree but some of our fellow zoners don't lol.

No, please don't do that! But if you happen to notice that the scheme is more QB-friendly, like some designs, note philosophy changes (i.e. outlets vs. no outlets, play designs for getting the ball out quicker vs. lots of 5 and 7-step drops, more snaps under C vs. shotgun, etc.) please feel free to note in your analysis. All those things could go a long way to analyzing CK as well.

A good example was how SD used Stevie Johnson yesterday.

Got it! I enjoy the comparison to other QB when some context is supplied but that takes time and a great deal of effort. OL, WRs, field position...so many variables.

A good example of context that is usually missing is field position! I'm hoping they use Hayne on punt returns because the guy is fearless and might mean the difference in a couple of games. Imagine CK starting at the 35 yard line on average! Of course, teams weren't using top 53 playes on STs as they will be during the season.
I hope Kaep throws a INT early in the game, He seems to play REALLY good after he does. 😆

just hoping like hell our line will be competent enough physcially and mentally to give him more than 1 1/2 second to throw so we can see his improvement. im afraid he'll just be rattled like last season if our front 5 are shaky and dont pan out....

Dear offensive line, please block someone... anyone and give our QB a chance to make plays.

Kap will go the way of the O Line. If pass protection is awful again this year, so will his perceived play. If he loses faith in his line again, he will bolt early and "try" to make things happen which is his nature. I wish Baalke used more than a 6th rounder to bolster a poor line performance from 2014.

Drives me nuts Analysts talk about QBs like they are playing single tennis without a supporting cast. Romo looks all-world behind his elite line. So would Kap.

Coo coo for coco puffs?
I'll settled for a throw away instead of scramble backward for -10yds sack

Please no more. Seriously.

I am sure Eli Manning would settle for Sack vs throw away at the end of his game...in a do over

Eli don't have wheels like Kaep. He gets a pass
