Moving the throwing platform, play action passes, and quick throws do help the QB but it's also doing a huge favor to the offensive line which honestly I feel is more the reason for the passing scheme than Kap's abilities.

That's why I'm convinced the preseason offense with the starters was more of a stress test for the offensive line to see what it's capable of doing. The coaches saw that Kap had a lot of pressure when he did 5-7 step drops under center so the coaches knew they had to help the offensive line as much as possible to ease the pressure on them.

Excellent points!

Kudos to the coaching staff for playing to our strengths , it got us a lop sided win.

Hopefully they develop Kap under center slowly. Seems like Harbaugh might have started the transformation of Kap under center too heavily and early and stunted his growth/progress.

I think putting him under center has more to do with the lack of confidence in the oline blocking and picking up blitzes.

That is a huge factor for sure.

The NFL in general is showing more shotgun as well. Brady, Manning, Rodgers Brees definitely have many of their pass plays from shotgun.

Not sure the advantages of being under center are still as great. In the old WCO many of the routes were timed with the QBs drop but it is a lost art. A QB counting to himself seems just as easy.

Weird that this is the most excited I've been in years watching this team! Maybe it's the youth and the hope for this experienced coaching staff...a good combinations! Kaepernick will be better each week as he gets into sync with Smith and Hyde...and the OL gets more in a groove!

We were all excited after the week one win against Dallas last year too.

Minor observation, but I notice he's not wearing that ridiculously large playcall sleeve on his arm anymore. Playcalling system has been streamlined to just a few words, so we can run the offense smoothly and fast.

Agreed 100%

I don't think Cossell ever touched on that. It was all just to make things easier for Kap, because yanno he so dumb and all.
Did he call any audibles during the game?

Tomsula said he did. Passes to runs.

Cossell is too scared to ever blame coaching when there are issues but apparently has no problem using it as a reason why someone was "hidden". Very hypocritical.

Bags on Kap last year even admitting he doesn't know what the coaches are saying...and refusing to acknowledge that he was being put in really tough situations with poor OL play, slow receivers, predictable offense with deep drops...etc.

This time apparently he can't just say Kap played well and made key plays to keep drives going and mentions how coaches hid him.

He may be able to break down film pretty well but he's definitely biased and his comments make that very clear. And just like the rest of us he can only guess at who the reads were on a certain play.
