I thought Kap played well. There were way too many dropped passes for my liking. I'm more concerned about our offensive play calling. Seems as if the "Ghost of Jim Harbaugh" lingered especially in the first half. We aren't good enough of a football team to play "Jim Harbaugh" football and this is what we say in the first half of the game.

We are going to need to find a balance on our offense. Let's not look at the stats as most of our offensive yards/points came in garbage time. Again, were are the crossing patterns or the quick hitters over the middle? Also, didn't see Colin rolling out on designed pass plays like he did last game. Offensive game play was putrid this game. I'll give it a D+. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
I thought Kap had a great game considering the drops, the gameplan, and the protection

Agreed. 335 yards 2 TDs. 10 incompletions but a dropped TD by Miller, Boldin dropped a wide open 20+ yarder, Boldin dropped a first down crossing route, Davis dropped an 11 yard 1st down on the sidelines.

Those weren't his fault. They hold on to those and we are looking at about 400 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. He couldn't possibly have played any better today

Yup. Where we could have been better was OL holding onto balls and in the secondary

Careful, the haters won't like these facts.

This game was 100% on our secondary today. There were four huge plays downfield on busted coverages, and about 4/5 on offense, including a dropped TD. That was the difference in the game.

The message from Jimmy T this week should be DYFJ.
Very nice game from Kaepernick today. His numbers would have been even better had they started throwing earlier & receivers held onto a few of his passes. Hope he continues to improve with each game, each week. Go 49ers!
The sad part is if Hyde never got injured I'm positive we would have kept running it and that Kap-TSmith TD would never have taken place probably.

Kap's play was a bright spot. I get that most of his damage came in the 2nd half when PIT probably pulled back a little (not sure), but he was accurate and patient when given time in the pocket.

Yup. The gameplan was terrible. Reid and Acker were absolutely lost.

Well a chunk of that yardage was garbage time. But I think Geep stuck to the run game too much in this game. Should have went to the pass earlier in the game.

There offense sure as heck wasn't holding back, and they were definitely geared to stop the run today. Probably didn't think we would open it up
Prolly the only dude that showed up today.

those were easy passes to catch....most with Touch that so many have asked Kap to use.

if those were caught.. 37/46 for almost 400 yards....and 3TDs.

we were never able to get into rhythm because of the fumble and penalties...added to those easy passes that were dropped.

edit- but yes most of those yards came from the Steelers playing soft...but most of those could've came early in the game, if we didn't drop the ball...could've kept the drive alive for more yardages and opportunities. As well as giving our defense a rest.

If kap plays like this going forward we will be fine offensively. I thought he looked poised and in control, dispite the pass rush and the adversity.

Despite the outcome, I come away feeling fine about our QB and offense. Well, except for pass pro.
