Definitely good news

What's Torrey supposed to say!? smfh

go visit your nephew

There's good news for almost all the QBs around the league at this time. I'm not gonna get excited over the hype, nope...can't do it.

Is that an advice from your cousin?

are we really judging Kaps "new" throwing motion off of a crappy cell video with a coach rushing him?

Considering it's offseason, I'd say it's primo. What else is there to do, other than pray we don't get Armstead and guess about the new alternate uniforms.
Kap's mechanics are still crap. His butthole is clenched in his drop back and that takes torque away from his arms and affects the accuracy. This guy just doesn't get what it takes to be a great QB. So frustrating to watch, he's just not a natural pocket passer. Those guys know how to not clench up and be relaxed and smooth in the pocket.
Love it when people post in threads like this that know f**k all about playing QB or the mechanics there of and claim not only to know the nuance that it takes to be a professional but the difference between a great throwing motion and a terrible one. What an epic f**king joke. Throwing a football is just like throwing a baseball in one very important regard... what works for you is what works. Sure there are things you can learn and ways you can grow you can always improve your mechanics and there are some basic principles you have to abide by but every QB in the history of the game is going to have a different wind up, a different release, different foot positioning. There is not one, single, solitary perfect way to throw a god damn football so stop acting like there is.....and for all that is holy stop acting like you are the football genius that knows what it is, because if you did and you could teach it? Guess what your ass wouldn't be posting here because NFL QB's would lining up to pay you millions of dollars.

Evidently! LOL! I'm more interested to see if he keeps his newly learned mechanics when the games get serious and if the new QB coach emphasises them...long time before the season starts!

Dude don't be so mad it's not good for your health!

Just for the record, I work on top of a 6 story building that overlooks the local high school football field. I look out the window all the time and see QBs doing drills, it's not rocket science!

Now that they know you spend all your time looking out the window, expect a demotion to a lower floor and an office with no windows!

They already took my red 49ers Swingline stapler!

Anyone working on top of a 6 story building that overlooks a high school football field, if you see someone looking out the window consistently...please do us all a favor and push him out the window.

Have never seen it termed this way, but I agree with you

His foot work needs some work. It needs to be a little quicker. It looks inconsistent.

That's because he wears too many sneakers. If he wore fine leather shoes and suits and ties like the rest of the pocket passers he would understand that sneakers make your toes naturally apart while the classy dress shoes keep them tight allowing for proper drop backs and precision and velocity when throwing off the front foot where all the power and accuracy comes from on a throw.

Kaepernick should burn his sneaker collection or at least exchange it for some real shoes, maybe some gators. Get rid of all his #swag stuff and dress up like a real QB. It will translate to the field and his mechanics will become more consistent and becoming of a proper pocket passer.

FINALLY: someone who understands QBs!

Here's kap.

wider base, shorter stance, and that "flick of the wrist"

you can tell he's putting his body more into his throws now. and his footwork seems better.

Looks much better than before. Probably looks even better from a side view. Just have to wait and see if he can carry it over to the games.

I honestly can't tell the difference, I'd need somebody to show me a side by side graphic of what's different and why it's better

The biggest thing for me is his stance. He has a wider base. And he's driving the throw with his legs instead of his arms. The actual throw I'll let defender/Marvin/thl/jonny/NCommand tackle that beast.

I'll offer what I see and address some of this "front foot" nonsense....

Ok, so, I notice a slightly wider base - which is good, he was a little narrow before, but it's not overly wide. One thing that I see is that his elbow is still a little low. If watch Tom Brady, Peyton manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith throw, that elbow is above their shoulder. When your elbow is a little low, it causes the ball to sail on you a bit. But, it's not horrible, could be one reason CK tends to have a lot of balls batted down at the LOS

As far as footwork - much better. He's got good knee bend throughout his stepping motion. That knee bend is like a shock absorber on a car, it keeps everything nice and level. When he didn't have that knee bend it causes the spine to get out of position - it'll wobble back and forth, meaning he doesn't have great balance throughout his entire motion. Again, this can cause accuracy problems on 3 step drops where the motions are very quick and there's not time to reset.

As far as this "front foot" nonsense. You drive off your back foot to get the hip rotation in the throw. Just like a golf swing, you want to point your belt buckle at the target through you motion, you need to open up your hips and rotate from a side point to a front point at the target. This is where the velocity and control comes from. You have to drive off your back foot through the throw. Even the videos that verb posted of Tom Brady, he's driving off his back foot.

What he's doing with his front foot his opening up his hips into the throw. The part the front leg has in the velocity of the throw is important - but it's not where the throw comes from. You have to clear your front hip in the throw to open the motion up as you rotate through. The front knee bend is then to act as a shock absorber for the torque as you shift your weight from front to back -it keeps the shoulders square as you throw.
