I haven't watched much football, you're right, and what I have seen the qbs often look pathetic and ridiculous. It's just weird to my eye and these are genuine questions. If it's normal it's normal. I said last week roethlisberger stands out to me as one of the rarely impressive QBs, I guess because the d doesn't seem to make him look like a wuss. In the pats/steelers game I thought brady looked stupid but then I saw on all the analyst shows they were praising him so I'm just trying to understand how this works. Kaep looked bad to me today and week 1. But I admit more knowledgable people than me are saying he looked good so I'm trying to see what they see.
Eli Manning looked like he should be sent to the CFL after week 1, if he's lucky. I just thought it was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a pro athlete in any sport, but the only thing that made big news was his rb having the nerve to question him. Still getting used to the culture.
Roethlisberger wasn't sacked today. He was not hit today. He was not hurried today. Makes a huge difference. I've seen him throw bad ball after bad ball when he was being hit. What's the saying? "Fear (of death) makes cowards of us all." LOL!
Every one of these guys can go into a shell is they are hit often enough. Kaepernick was sacked five times and hit or hurried often. In the second half he had a bit more time and made good throws. His overall stats were good. What was less good? Two first down passes and one touchdown dropped by the receivers.
But you shouldn't think ill of these guys. They stand back there and at any moment there careers could be ended by a well placed hit to their backs. They stand straight and wait until the last moment for their receivers to come open. Takes a great deal of courage. Ask any retired QB how they feel and most will tell you what parts of their bodies no longer work.
