Tish you're too busy breaking down film and cutting up gifs dude which is far more valuable - you should palm the banning and time outs off to English or someone else who's on easy street

Inspite of a horrid o line, penalties, dropped passes and a coaching staff that was late to adjust, Kaep still put up decent numbers. He came out of the game with a 72% completion rate, 335 yards passing and 2 (should have been 3) TD passes. Infact, Kaep was the only bright spot of the day. The rest of the team looked like garbage.

I believe that has to be the most yards he's ever thrown for. He was definitely the only bright spot on the day.

Are you trolling? Without even looking at any stats, I'm positive that he put up 400 against the Packers 2 years ago. The fact that the steelers secondary is suppose to be horrible, I'm surprised it took the coaching staff as long as it did to abandon the running game. The steelers sold out to stop the run and it was glaringly obvious from start that we needed to pass to win. Hopefully they learned from this experience because it looked like Kaep was up for the task.

He threw for 412 against the packers in the first game of 2013.

No, I'm not trolling. I forgot about that Packers game. Thanks for the reminder.

If that oline looks likes that the ball has got to come out quicker

You're right, as soon as the ball is snapped and in Kap's hands he should just toss it up because I'm not exactly sure how you could be any quicker. And then as soon as he does that it will be seconds before posters are complaining that if he waited a half second longer he would have seen a receiver come open.

Kaep looked good out there considering the adversities, you know, the fact every other 49er played like an a*****e.

That Boldin drop was just brutal. They had a nice drive going, Kaep was making nice throws, they would have been in FG range and possibly scored with the way they were moving. I'm not saying that would have changed the outcome of the game but things just escalated very quickly after that. Big momentum play

Agree. Defense is the main reason the game spiraled out of control, but the offense missed out on countless opportunities to score. Penalties, dropped passes, sacks, and RZ woes continue to haunt the team.

This. Young talented defense will need help from offense early on.

All of these...and we knew coming into the season. No suprises in this game except for one issue--DBs letting Steeler WRs get behind them. Tomsula mentioned this at the post game presser. It was the only negative I heard from him...may have been others, but it was so short...doubt it. That's a result, I think, of youthful mistakes, and if the pundits are right, safety mistakes as well. Also, I thought Wilhoite played too many downs and Tartt not enough. Fight speed with speed!

The offense started much like last week...slowly. But then came up with some nice plays as the game progressed. They are still struggling for chemistry and to get the blocking schemes down. I'm not sure it's lack of talent as much as mental errors. Realistically, Pears is better than J Martin was last year but Martin is struggling and Devey has only been there a short time. Then they have Thomas, who is a rookie in time with the team. Expect them to improve, a lot, through the season. They have to shore up the middle--but Kilgore is the answer there, at least for this year, and he won't be back until week six at the earliest.

Yes, Kaepernick said they knew they would have to use short passing but may have waited too long to get it going. Face it...Pittsburgh played better and won. Had little to do with the QB and everything to do with the lines. No penetration on defense, nothing but penetration on offense. Can't win games when that happens.

Solutions?
  • Try to shake up the DL by using Purcell at NT or DE
  • More Tartt at ILB/Safety hybrid
  • Use 4 man line more often with Bowman as the only ILB, use Harold more on the outside for quickness
  • Show the young DBs this tape and then work on keeping WRs in front of them

Offense?
  • Get the OL some game experience--build chemistry
  • Spread the offense to maximize Kaepernick's talent--start the game with no back, 4 WR set--roll Kaep
  • Then go to multiple TEs to help the right side of the OL
  • Use Hyde and Hayne more as receivers (if Bush is healthy use him as well) (they need to stop over using Hyde)
  • Put VD at WR, Smith on the opposite side and Boldin in the slot--take some shots deep right away to loosen up the D

Young teams are frustrating, but there's a lot of talent here...just have to boost the learning curve...fast!

If this doesn't work...wait until next year and draft OL and OLB.
Kap played decent. He made some nice throws and some nice reads. His OLINE especially Pears and Devey and Martin are all NOT NFL Caliber players. Its like an expansion Offensive line out there. I feel bad for Kap getting abused dude has almost no chance to succeed.
Can't blame for Kap for that. He played as best as he probably could with that s**tty OL.

I thought he played a pretty damn good game.

71.7 CMP%, 335 yards, 7.28 Y/A, 106.7 QB rating

If, coming into the game, I told you he'd give us that stat line, would you have predicted a win? I'm guessing most people would've.
Kap surprised me with how poised he played yesterday.
