Gotta start scoring points earlier, aside from that I'm liking what I'm seeing from Kap. Still has work to do but he's going in the right direction.

I've seen lots of changes in his game these first two weeks. He does seem to be trying to slide in the pocket when he's got one and he threw quite a few touch passes this game - that floater over the linebacker to Celek was very nice. He's also keeping his eyes down field a lot more this year and he seems more ready to take the check down.

I find it to be pretty hypocritical to praise someone like Brady for completing short passes, or any other QB for that matter, and then saying Kaepernick sucks because his YPA was really low in the first half. Isn't it the WR,TE and RBs job to get some YAC after Kap completes the pass?

This. Vernon Davis is a big culprit of this. When was the last time he broke a tackle? For someone with that much size on a DB, it's embarrassing how soft he plays.
WHY DOES CHRYST GO FOR THE FADE IN THE GOALINE INSTEAD OF A SLANT TO TE'S?

OR AN EMPTY SET ROLL OUT WITH A TE DRAG (EITHER RUNNING IT IN OR TO THE TE)?

Anything better than running it against a tough run defense.

exactly. the entire offseason everyone said he needed to hit the layups. he needed to take what the defense gave him instead of going for the home run every play. this is what he's doing but when they call the home run he's taking it too. we're seeing what i said. he runs whatever you call. he could have hit those 20 yard passes and that pass to torrey in the 1st half if it was called with regularity.
I'm relieved to see Kap show improvement so early. I didn't think it could happen, I'm glad I was wrong. If the right side of the OL can show any improvement the O can carry us.

yea that wasn't a good goal line offense in the 1st half. spread them out thin like they did us and run it in or pass it in quickly.

we move the ball. penalties kill us. drops kill us.

Some of it might be mentality...he's a thoughtful, artistic kind of guy. He's a very good blocker, so soft doesn't sound accurate. VD is a speed guy with good athleticism except for balance and niftiness when being hit. He just doesn't have that ability to be hit and keep feet. This has been true throughout his career. It took him several years to learn how to catch over his shoulder without falling to the ground. I think they need to use him the same way they are using T Smith...give him routes where he has a chance for clear space after the catch and let his speed work for him. He's the un-Gronk of TEs.

I like Celek as the second TE...he's more a natural TE type who can take a hit and stay upright. McDonald is between the two. Players have learned to hit McD low and it gets him down consistently. Celek might just step over them.

Edit: Will be fun to see what Bell can do.

Thought Kaep had a really good game. I know we always hear about how hard he works, but it's nice that we can see a noticeable improvement in his game.

Did you guys catch the sideline reporter saying something about him wanting to better himself as a person? There was something about him spending time by himself and off social media, but I don't remember exactly what she said. Anyone remember the details? I never heard anything about that from any other reporters

Yeah, he was evidently talking about how he got away, went into the desert by himself or something like that, and just thought about how he should be a better person and a better leader.

He certainly has shown a different persona in his post-game press conferences this year. I think he's showing improvement in a lot of the little things on the field and if he wants to change his persona to a more mature presence, more power to him. It's never bothered me, but this can't hurt.

Not sure how much the coaching change has to do with this but it seemed like he had been following the Harbaugh anti-media path. Now he can be his own person and/or follow Tomsula's more mature relationship with the press.

The kaep from the last 2 games looked better than any other 2 game period in his career.... Based on my uncalibrated eye.

I'm excited about it. Need a little more time from the O-line.... Notice that even with the terrible O-line play, kaep kept his composure (as much as anyone could) and went through his progressions better than he ever has..... And other than the fade-type routes, his accuracy and touch are better than ever!!

Need more time from the O-line.

Old kaep would have let the ANTICIPATION of the inevitable o-line collapse ruin his poise.......top 10 qb play in my opinion, but what do I know??

Edit: I don't like all the QB comparisons, but I will admit that I do it just like everyone else..... I can't help but compare kaep to Russell Wilson.... And this is the first time that I've EVER really believed that we got the better QB

Some of us said this before the game!
