On multiple short passes early in the game:
You have to be able to take what the defense is going to give you. They were playing deep on most of the plays so we're not going to be able to throw over their head or down the field. That limits you to shorter underneath passes.

Anything better than running it against a tough run defense.
yea that wasn't a good goal line offense in the 1st half. spread them out thin like they did us and run it in or pass it in quickly.

I'm excited about it. Need a little more time from the O-line.... And other than the fade-type routes, his accuracy and touch are better than ever!!
Need more time from the O-line.
Old kaep would have let the ANTICIPATION of the inevitable o-line collapse ruin his poise.......top 10 qb play in my opinion, but what do I know??
That's what I saw too. I thought it was a good sign that he was able to keep his eyes downfield even in the fact of that pressure. They sacked him 5 times and got their hands on him a number of other plays - he was still the highest PFF graded offensive player on the team.

At least once a year...sad that I wasted it on this!

I feel like this is a different/better Kap than last year, by a big margin. Just wish the D could get their s**t together.

They're just going to have to find a way to pressure the QB. Arizona is definitely NOT going to be a walk in the park, but I think Mangini might be able to get better results from the blitz with them. I think they have Iupati coming back this week and let's just say he isn't the fastest at recognizing a blitzer running past him.

Agree! I think the complaints are coming from folks who miss the somewhat erratic super-athlete who would just take off and run 50 yards! He's calmer this year, more patient...and that's boring to some.

He certainly has shown a different persona in his post-game press conferences this year. I think he's showing improvement in a lot of the little things on the field and if he wants to change his persona to a more mature presence, more power to him. It's never bothered me, but this can't hurt.
He's dressing up more for postgame pressers, smart-casual attire (still can't get rid of those damn headphones LOL). Anyhow, never dressed like that before in a single press interview I can remember. It's only a small difference but it helps.

It wasn't for major yards because he took what the defense gave him along with the play calling (1 wr sets) he was decisive and accurate from the beginning to the end. We can't discount that. How did we manage those 17 play drives if he was tentative? We know the running game was basically non existent.Originally posted by pasodoc9er:As for kap, he looked uncertain to me in the first half, tentative maybe.
He threw accurate passes and scrambled when he needed to in order to extend the drives. We just waited way too long to come out of the big formations of last week and open up the ferrari for this week. If it were me, as soon as we had that 17 play drive and got 3 points out of it we're opening it up and carving up that secondary because theirs is just as bad as ours played yesterday.
Mostly all of this is moot though. you're not going to win if your defense gives up 43 points.
This. Kaep and Ben employed the same game plan EXCEPT Ben and the Hayley took deep shots and we didn't.

Turns out Kaepernick was actually pressured by blitzes more in the second half the the first. He was pressured on 16 of his second half drop backs and for the entire game, Kaepernick was under the fourth-most pressure defense in his entire career. To me, that makes his performance that much more encouraging. I think he's definitely getting better and progressing at the things he needs to to be a pocket passer.

he's doing what i hoped. exhaust the play and then rip off 15 yards.

exactly the steelers did not sit back in the 2nd half. we were moving the ball the entire game.
we just opened it up and put the speed on the field. the same thing we could have done in the 1st half.

Good practice if nothing else came from it. I loved his keeping eyes down the field longer. After a few games he will begin to see more and more. Good times ahead.

Yes, a loss of some yards now but will be a much more solid offense down the road.

The defense will no longer be the strength, we all knew that. It's going to take a few knock out drafts to reload the D.
