Q: Do you feel like you were asked to do things outside of your character?

KAEPERNICK: Outside of how I would normally handle situations, yes.

Q: Meaning, to be more specific, being in the pocket more? Not getting outside? Is that what you're getting at?

KAEPERNICK: No. I'm getting at that I was asked to do things outside of my character.

is he talking about Harbs and how to handle the media?

Confused by that whole exchange. Kap ended up walking off the stage. It seems like he wasn't talking about football. Perhaps he felt the questioning was trying to lead him to bash Harbaugh or Roman, and he just walked off the podium to avoid any more questions. Whatever it was, he wasn't comfortable with the questioning.

It is obvious that Harbs wanted Kap to be his puppet.

Well, obvious to me.

Seems the media rep was confused as well... what does standing in the pocket more have to do with character?

Wasn't it Baalke who had a "talk" with Kap about how to talk to the media?

pretty much. it's why they interviewed so similar. you can see Kap's transformation from his rookie year to 2013. Kap went from smiling and engaged to distant and terse.

I have no problem with Luck. Quarterbacks, just like people, have their ups and downs, their good and bad days.

Luck will have, I believe, a good season.

I do have a problem with the discrepancies between the narrative on Luck and Kaepernick and their actual production on the football field.
The narrative insists on ignoring their production.

.

Agree...I could see Luck getting the benefit of the doubt due to his draft status but at some point it should level out and he should be compared fairly for play on the field. The excuses I see for Luck--OL, WR--could easily be said for Kaepernick as well.

A lot the talking heads have anointed Luck the next best thing. They are making all the excuses for him instead of admitting fault in their proclamation of him being the greatest of all time.
I think he's basically just sick of the unfair criticisms he's received. Guy definitely has an ego, but I don't care about that. Think Tom Brady et al doesn't? Anyway, can't blame him for walking away even if it was an overreaction. Guy receives more criticism than pretty much anyone else in the league and it's largely unwarranted.

I think he said more than he meant to which is why he walked away. He knows the media...they were fishing for him to rag on Harbaugh in some way. Initially, he answered the question honestly, then he realized his mistake once they went fishing. Then he left because he knew they were gonna keep fishing.

True, a lot of the responses I saw were reading into this as he was specifically talking about being forced into solely being a pocket-QB. Not sure that's the case though for someone who's trying to improve.

Man, Harbaugh never ceases to be annoying. Hate that guy.

BTW, Colts fans by and large would love him to be their HC, even willing to wait for him to "finish up" (aka get thrown out of) Michigan.

Maybe they see it differently because he was once their QB, but man that would be hilarious to watch.

Possibly, really hard to tell.

I would assume based on the exchange it has to do with handling the locker room and working with teammates.
Kap is probably able to breathe again after being under Harb's thumb. I mean, Harbaugh was joining the huddle to call the plays in practice? GTFOH.

Totally agree.

Yes. This ain't the first time he said it either

Yes and I'm sure his dad as well. Jim was on his way out so they redirected Kap to be more open and cordial like he was at Nevada
