Yes. Then I vnever forget Kap was raised by adopted parents so a part of me has to think Kap might have identity issues so he is impressionable as a result. I can kind of sympathize with that. Kap talked recently about finding himself. The kid gotva lot going on in and around the game that should not be present. Media players fans and coaches be hating on him. Crabtree is a punk for what he did to Kap tooOriginally posted by Evilgenius:I think he's basically just sick of the unfair criticisms he's received. Guy definitely has an ego, but I don't care about that. Think Tom Brady et al doesn't? Anyway, can't blame him for walking away even if it was an overreaction. Guy receives more criticism than pretty much anyone else in the league and it's largely unwarranted.

Jim Harbaugh really did a number on this kid. He says he wasn't able to be himself but he clams up and walks off stage like he can't handle it.

Watched the press conference, it's much ado about nothing. Dude had a smile on his face answering that question and had nothing else to add.
Freakin' Cohn made it seem like he stormed off stage awkwardly...should have known not to read into anything he writes.

BTW, Colts fans by and large would love him to be their HC, even willing to wait for him to "finish up" (aka get thrown out of) Michigan.
Maybe they see it differently because he was once their QB, but man that would be hilarious to watch.
Maybe they want to improve their team, he has done that everywhere he has gone.

Kaepernick could use a speaking coach and a PR coach.
I think he is book smart but he doesn't portray himself as such and doesn't do a great job at promoting himself.

Luck will have, I believe, a good season.
I do have a problem with the discrepancies between the narrative on Luck and Kaepernick and their actual production on the football field.
The narrative insists on ignoring their production.
.
Agree...I could see Luck getting the benefit of the doubt due to his draft status but at some point it should level out and he should be compared fairly for play on the field. The excuses I see for Luck--OL, WR--could easily be said for Kaepernick as well.
Luck was the first pick in the draft. Why should the number 1 pick in a draft class get more benefit of the doubt than a 2nd roundpick?

I think a speaking coach is a good idea. Lots of people (including myself) struggle with being able to speak to a large group of people let alone cameras and media folks.

Absolutely. I used to work at a global technology center for a large firm. I was surrounded by brilliant scientists, some who were expected to give talks around the world about our technology forecast and we had a speaking coach on call for these guys. For many it is a learned a skill rather than something that comes naturally. Jerry rice worked hard to become a better public speaker because he lacked the gift (or perhaps training) that Lott has.
Kaepernick strikes me as shy and he has a bit of a Turlock thing going with his speech and his appearance. Sorry to any Turlock folks I may have offended.

Kaepernick has improved his media presence remarkably.
Kaerpernick apparently took to heart the advice given to him last year by his father and Baakle.

It's fun to try to psychoanalyze Kap based on a few words he has spoken, so I'll speculate, too. I think Harbaugh was/is a pretty good coach (even with the great talent of players, it was still an impressive thing to coach the team to two conference championship games and win another to get to a Super Bowl) but when it came to getting the very most out of his players, he saw their performance probably too heavily through the lens of HIS system and his expectation that the players execute his system as it is - it was on the players to adapt to the system. That would have been okay for the most part probably IF the system had worked all the way through to the biggest games, but for some reason (not adaptable enough?) the system didn't work quite well enough. In general, those talented players did their best to make the system work and so when it didn't work, it was either because of the weight of accumulation of injuries or inadequate coaching or both.
For the first three years, the players were clearly buying into Harbaugh's vision. Like his teammates, I think Kap genuinely wanted to do as coach Harbaugh asked because he respected Harbaugh and wanted to be a good team player. I'm sure Kap learned A LOT from Harbaugh, but it is probably the case that what Harbaugh was trying to teach Kap to do was to play quarterback within the system. I think Harbaugh did try to adapt the system to better suit Kap, but the system just wasn't a good fit for Kap's natural talents.
It seems plausible that Chryst-Tomsula have tried to create a system that lends itself better to Kap's natural talents, hopefully while continuing his development when passing out of a pocket.
Maybe that was along the lines of what Kap was trying to say. Maybe not.

What was Baalke's advice? Don't talk to the media on any topic before the head coach does?Originally posted by buck:Kaerpernick apparently took to heart the advice given to him last year by his father and Baakle.

No, his dad told him to stop acting like an angry, pouty teenager towards the media after losses.
He doesn't really get the credit for it, but he's had a much better attitude since he got that lecture.

I accidentally had it on CSN Bay Area while I was finishing up some work and I heard Jim Kosimore talking to Ann Killion about Colin Kaepernick. To hear her talk he doesn't deserve the rave reviews he's gotten to this point. He continues to fail in the red zone but Derek Carr got it done. Missed the pick he threw right before the TD pass Ann (of course it was wiped out by a questionable holding call)? Oh yeah there was the pick he threw right before on the previous drive that if Trestman knew how to use the clock should have won Baltimore the game. Why are you even comparing the two? Colin has road playoff wins and taken his team to a SB but she likes Carr.
Colin played well in complete garbage time she said. Did anyone watch the game because this person obviously didn't? The Steelers didn't drop back into a zone coverage and rush three. They were still scheming, blitzing and playing awfully physical but because the score was what it was it doesn't count. Stupid. I should be more careful what channel I leave it on. I don't read blogs or articles, I don't watch the NFL Network or ESPN anymore and I have been much happier. I'm the first to admit Colin played like crap last year and didn't progress the way I expected and I questioned if he would be able to improve enough this off-season to be our franchise QB.
After watching the first two games this year I'm excited and I see a lot of improvement over the last two years. I hope he goes out and lights AZ up. Please Colin shut these know nothing twits up. They are hoping you fail. Hell half our own fan base is hoping you fail. I'm a 9ers fan though and I don't care if you say two words in your press conferences because these local beat writers suck and are hoping you pove them right. Just worry about this week. Play another clean good game and get the win. I'm pulling for you and hope you shut them up one week at a time. Ann Killion please go do something else. I know you like being on TV and hearing yourself talk but you are an idiot and if you like the Raiders so much better stay in Oakland. You know nothing!
