I have no issues with Kap's media presence. I noticed that he's generally only short with all the same "reporters" that constantly bag on him and the team.

What that tells me is he's not an idiot and he refuses to give them fodder. And when you think about it, why should he? They're going to keep saying negative things about him anyway.

May as well not make it easy for them.

Personally, I find it rather odd that one can write that a person isn't a good player, has zero leadership qualities, should lose their job, etc. and then turn around and expect them to be upbeat and chatty when they see you.

I accidentally had it on CSN Bay Area while I was finishing up some work and I heard Jim Kosimore talking to Ann Killion about Colin Kaepernick. To hear her talk he doesn't deserve the rave reviews he's gotten to this point. He continues to fail in the red zone but Derek Carr got it done. Missed the pick he threw right before the TD pass Ann (of course it was wiped out by a questionable holding call)? Oh yeah there was the pick he threw right before on the previous drive that if Trestman knew how to use the clock should have won Baltimore the game. Why are you even comparing the two? Colin has road playoff wins and taken his team to a SB but she likes Carr.

Colin played well in complete garbage time she said. Did anyone watch the game because this person obviously didn't? The Steelers didn't drop back into a zone coverage and rush three. They were still scheming, blitzing and playing awfully physical but because the score was what it was it doesn't count. Stupid. I should be more careful what channel I leave it on. I don't read blogs or articles, I don't watch the NFL Network or ESPN anymore and I have been much happier. I'm the first to admit Colin played like crap last year and didn't progress the way I expected and I questioned if he would be able to improve enough this off-season to be our franchise QB.

After watching the first two games this year I'm excited and I see a lot of improvement over the last two years. I hope he goes out and lights AZ up. Please Colin shut these know nothing twits up. They are hoping you fail. Hell half our own fan base is hoping you fail. I'm a 9ers fan though and I don't care if you say two words in your press conferences because these local beat writers suck and are hoping you pove them right. Just worry about this week. Play another clean good game and get the win. I'm pulling for you and hope you shut them up one week at a time. Ann Killion please go do something else. I know you like being on TV and hearing yourself talk but you are an idiot and if you like the Raiders so much better stay in Oakland. You know nothing!

Its high school bro. These sports journalists wish they could actually be reporting on important things, I doubt they all dreamed of being sports writers. LOL. Each one of them is "writing a novel/memoir/telecast/etc...." and failing hard. I'm sure they'd rather be respected writers in lots of different areas not named the NFL. So they will generally not base their opinions on facts but rather on which guy they like more. And unfortunately Kap hasn't played the social game with these losers, so they will tend to root for the other guys who do, like Carr. I'm sure Carr has way better media presence and they will reward him with love and support. Again like high school. If you snub people, especially losers they'll always root against you. Human psychology 101.

What was Baalke's advice? Don't talk to the media on any topic before the head coach does?

I was not there for either conversation, so I do not know what was said.

Kaepernick was given advice on how to deal with the media by at least three people following an interview marked by hostility and one-word, answers. .

In a press conference, Kaepernick, himself, joked about his being talked to by a 49er media person.
Baalke stated publically that he spoke with Kaepernick about Kaepernick's way of dealing with the media.
And there have been reportst that Kaepernick's father also spoke to him.

The content of those conversations has never been revealed, but there is no doubt that since then Kaepernick has been more open, respectful, and friendly in his dealing with the media.

It's fun to try to psychoanalyze Kap based on a few words he has spoken, so I'll speculate, too. I think Harbaugh was/is a pretty good coach (even with the great talent of players, it was still an impressive thing to coach the team to two conference championship games and win another to get to a Super Bowl) but when it came to getting the very most out of his players, he saw their performance probably too heavily through the lens of HIS system and his expectation that the players execute his system as it is - it was on the players to adapt to the system. That would have been okay for the most part probably IF the system had worked all the way through to the biggest games, but for some reason (not adaptable enough?) the system didn't work quite well enough. In general, those talented players did their best to make the system work and so when it didn't work, it was either because of the weight of accumulation of injuries or inadequate coaching or both.

For the first three years, the players were clearly buying into Harbaugh's vision. Like his teammates, I think Kap genuinely wanted to do as coach Harbaugh asked because he respected Harbaugh and wanted to be a good team player. I'm sure Kap learned A LOT from Harbaugh, but it is probably the case that what Harbaugh was trying to teach Kap to do was to play quarterback within the system. I think Harbaugh did try to adapt the system to better suit Kap, but the system just wasn't a good fit for Kap's natural talents.

It seems plausible that Chryst-Tomsula have tried to create a system that lends itself better to Kap's natural talents, hopefully while continuing his development when passing out of a pocket.

Maybe that was along the lines of what Kap was trying to say. Maybe not.

I think you're being a lot nicer to Harbaugh than you should. I think it's pretty obvious to anyone watching that Kap wasn't put in situations where any QB let alone one of his skillsets would feel comfortable.

Harbaugh's system did work to a certain extent...but as the team got worse and we had no speed on offense to threaten teams we continued running the same offense even though we didn't have the horses to do so. Refusing to use RBs in the passing game, calling deep drop backs with routes that take up time while the OL was playing horrible...it was just doomed to fail.

I think these comments was a way of Kap admitting it but not really throwing Harbaugh or Roman under the bus completely.

It's because Carr has the "look" of the typical franchise QB. People blasted Jawarski for saying that Kap has the talent to be the greatest of all time, and I don't disagree. It's just a matter of him putting all that talent together.
I was pissed when Harbs got canned. Now, my perception has changed a bit. After hearing Boone talk about Harbs and taking a step back. Now, hearing Kap's comments about being forced to do things outside of his character (and not necessarily on the field during gameday), this opens my eyes even more. Maoicco said that Harbs didn't even let Kap call plays during practice, Harbs would be the voice. This furthers the notion that Harbs was a HUGE dictator and obsessive control freak. He crossed the line probably in regards to the NFL. At this point, Harbs is probably better in college.

Kap seems more calm and confident. Taking what the defense gives him. Still a lot of room to grow, but good to see after the first two games.

I've thought this for sometime now, but Kap is this generation of Niners' fans version of Steve Young. I am not saying the same guy or same talent--though there are some comparisons that could be made. But the polarizing way that the fan base views the guy. Until he wins a Super Bowl, it will not stop. Even if he destroys everyone in his path short of winning a Super Bowl. It will never be enough until he wins the big one. I like the guy, like his growth, and like his work ethic. I always cheer for him.

It's an opinion. Deal with it.
Welcome, sacninerfan. One convert at a time. And now you are starting to understand what many of us thot about harbaw...and why...and also how with 7 , yes seven, all pros and a fantastic bunch of talent on the team, he managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the two NFCC games and the SB game. Yes , there is plenty of reason to be really pizzed at harbaw...and it is going away, but slowly. You may also come to understand just why many of us saw JT as the perfect guy to make us forget harbaw.
