Anyone know what he's trying to do with his hair? In a few more weeks he's going to look like Sean Penn from Carlito's Way.

Both failed projects.
How the hell did we end up with this after having Montana, Young, and hell even Garcia. Christ, it's frustrating
I don't even like Alex Smith and I think this team would be better off with him. How I wish we had Derek Carr.
Well I think with Smith the concern was his unwillingness to take a chance or hit his guys in the mediocre / long routes. He wasn't aggressive enough, and at times it felt like he left a lot of yards on the field. With Kaep it's just the opposite. He never gets rid of it right off the snap (unless the play is designed to), and it seems as if he's looking downfield all the time before he looks for the short looks. It would have been great to have someone that had Kaep's arm and Smith's smarts. Would have been a deadly combo eg Rodgers
But all in all if Kaep fails this season it will feel like we wasted a decade of opportunity on subpar quarterbacks that played on a team with great pieces in place to win multiple championships. What's frustrating is that during this timespan, guys like Brees RW Eli and he'll even Brad Johnson got theirs
Interesting take. I can't bare to watch anything football related right now and I'm punching myself coming to this thread. I think your take on Kap vs Alex is spot on. Alex doesn't take chances, Kap does. I must add that I don't know if that was the case on the pick 6s. We had a run route on the first one and was defended by 6 DB's, no on was open. VD was the underneath guy, but the DB who played off has a beat on it. Not to mention the pressure causing Kap to threw it off his back foot. The second was all Kap waiting to pull the trigger. Boldin was the underneath route, but it appeared to be a run pass option and Kap looked left to VD first, nothing there, comes back to Boldin and doesn't pull the trigger right away. The last two picks were just horrible under throws. Some reason he's not putting enough zip on some passes this season. Still he appeared to be mentally gone after that rough start and it was not pretty after that.
Hoping he gets over it and bounces back this season. Don't let this game define his entire season.
Also, we have other problems with the offense, mostly the line. Torrey is a great addition, but if Kap doesn't have time to air it out, it means nothing.

I said it in game they were just running watered down version of JH's offense.
How sad the offense was supposed to get better. It got much worse.
Maybe thats all kap knows how to run? I don't know.............
He's just talking s**t. They did not jump anything, just bad throws and bad luck all around.
Those pick 6s were perfect jumps. You saw them jumps a mile away, especially the first one. The second two were horrible throws.

Kap is a good QB for the right team, just not ours. Teams with an awesome Oline, Running Game and Defense are perfect spots for Kap. We saw how he thrived on the 49ers a few years ago. Things have changed and the reality is we need Kap to be someone he isn't.
We no longer have that awesome defense or the awesome oline to help cover Kap's short comings. I'd love for him to be the man and carry this team, but it's not who he is.

They were both thrown late...the receiver was open but had to stop and wait for the ball, giving the DB time to jump. I suppose you could say the receiver could have come back for the ball on each, but those aren't the type of routes that usually require it. The first was mainly due to CK being hit but the second was antipating pressure rather than stepping into the throw.
I've certainly been critical of CK at times but can't recall a game this disasterous. As a matter of fact...I can't think of a game for any QB this bad in recent memory. Last week he was moving the ball and playing well but just couldn't get it into the end zone...this week...

I also go back to the preseason. Kaep got a couple series a game and didnt even play in the fourth one. The great QBs in the league get time in preseason games to build rapport with their receivers. It makes a huge difference and you're seeing that now with the lack of chemistry. Same with the o-line.

Then this off season we need to let him go and move on. If he needs all those to be successful then he is an average QB a best and we have over paid him.

Lol, great. How will this improve his ability to find the open WRs?
This team is in flux. If you think lost leadership is not an issue then you are missing a huge point. The only hope for this team for the year if for Kaepernick and other veterans to step forward and provide that leadership. You want to make posts like this fine...but they are throw away comments that aren't helpful or illustrative of anything useful.

Coming into the season most of the members on here said that we had the worst coaching staff hands down. You guys also said Baalke doesn't know how to draft. You guys also said that we had the worst oline. Is it any suprise that Kap finally struggled...

I wonder how Andrew Luck would look on this team. He might have 10 INTs with the bs o line we are trotting out there

We may not agree on this, but I don't think the first throw was late, but the pressure didn't allow him to step into the throw. The second one was definitely late and forced. Still not sure why he didn't let it rip when he first saw Q. I agree that the WRs shouldn't have had to fight back to the ball.
