Tony Romo must fit in this category too then right? Seeing as Kap has done more in 2 and a half years starting than the 15 or 17 years combined starting that they have? throw in however many years stafford has (with no chants for a replacement after years of being the exact same qb with NO improvement whatsoever on a completely stacked team on both sides of the ball with him being the central reason why they don't go far in the playoffs.

Right?

2 years is enough sample size to know we need to move on in 49er land.
Meanwhile growing pains, horrible seasons. understanding that the offensive line isn't nearly up to par. all of these other things other teams' qb's get thrown out when they struggle mightily. not for kap?

he had a horrible game. he isn't the 1st and he won't be the last to have a horrible game. but if he has one his job is in jeopardy? after having done much more than any of the aforementioned has for their teams with twice the tenure?

Not gonna lie, I find it baffling you've spent the entire day defending Kap after we got blown out by 40 points today in which Colin was a major factor in. Give you credit for being a fan, but be a 49ers fan, not a Kap fan.

defending?
which part? the part where i said he had a horrible game? or the part where i said he had a horrible game? which one of those?
i said today he was the problem. TODAY the loss was on him. NOBODY is limiting it to today.
When he has a good day, it's just a day. When he has a horrible one then that's the trajectory of his entire career. do you not see the problem with that line of thinking?

"I mean, it's not that you can't throw that," Hyde continued. "It's just that you can't make that turnover. There was guys open. The ball just dropped down to the other person."

If you criticize Colin Kaepernick, clearly You are no 49er fan.

This comes from people that are Kaepernick fans, not 49er fans. They would put the team ahead of Any individual.

Agreed with the bolded. The fact is that Kapernicks performance today played a huge role in the 40 point loss. I mean, he had 2 pick sixes in the first 5 minutes of the game. All 4 of his picks lead to points. And all 4 of his picks were terrible passes. The entire team was a disaster, but this is the "Kapernick" thread. So his performance today is being criticized, and justifiably so.

Here's a question, did the coaching staff just lose confidence in Kap after the first few interceptions or was it just bad coaching? Because they ran it 14 times in a row at one point, including running up the middle on 2nd and 17. It seemed like the coach's just gave up. Not a good sign.

At this point no minds will be changed no matter what. So, just let it ride and whatever happens happens.

I don't see many (any?) posters defending his performance today. I see people defending him as the go-forward option for this team because no viable alternative is available to us. The idea of spending another couple of years on Kap while on this trajectory is not enticing to me, but we have no near-term alternative.

Agreed with the last part. I've already said we're stuck with Kap because they're arent too many QB's that can replace him. Good QB's are hard to come by in this league.

I think the problem for some folks here and me in particular is that when Kap has a bad game, people tend to extrapolate that as his career trajectory. Then they minimize his performance when he plays well and the team wins. He should be criticized today. His play was atrocious. But we also all need to recognize that he has had incredible games as well. If he continues to play poorly throughout the first half of this season, then it might be time to start thinking about what to do with the QB position.

But right now, I say we chalk this up to an incredibly bad day and hope Kap hasn't gone all Schaub or Delhomme.

Sort of the opposite of what was being done a couple of years ago. Kind of goes hand in hand with losing.
If Kap couldn't run like he does he would prob be the worst QB ever
