I think the problem for some folks here and me in particular is that when Kap has a bad game, people tend to extrapolate that as his career trajectory. Then they minimize his performance when he plays well and the team wins. He should be criticized today. His play was atrocious. But we also all need to recognize that he has had incredible games as well. If he continues to play poorly throughout the first half of this season, then it might be time to start thinking about what to do with the QB position.

But right now, I say we chalk this up to an incredibly bad day and hope Kap hasn't gone all Schaub or Delhomme.

Very good question. I think last year against the Rams in St.Louis. He started slow but finished terrific. That was almost a year ago.

Tony Romo must fit in this category too then right? Seeing as Kap has done more in 2 and a half years starting than the 15 or 17 years combined starting that they have? throw in however many years stafford has (with no chants for a replacement after years of being the exact same qb with NO improvement whatsoever on a completely stacked team on both sides of the ball with him being the central reason why they don't go far in the playoffs.

2 years is enough sample size to know we need to move on in 49er land.
Meanwhile growing pains, horrible seasons. understanding that the offensive line isn't nearly up to par. all of these other things other teams' qb's get thrown out when they struggle mightily. not for kap?

he had a horrible game. he isn't the 1st and he won't be the last to have a horrible game. but if he has one his job is in jeopardy? after having done much more than any of the aforementioned has for their teams with twice the tenure?

Agreed. Great game from Kap, but haven't seen him come remotely close to that game. It's been almost a year since he's been "terrific".
