Wow! 1 terrible game and the media is running away with the QB controversy... It's like they have had these stories written for months. Beginning to feel a lot like last year with the Harbaugh nonsense.

Yes this is just like the harbaugh thing.
Turns out what was written about harbaugh was true. The writing is on the wall with Kap. Gore and Crabtree made their digs and Kap is still playing like s**t. With our schedule Kap is going to have a horrendous year. We'll finally be able to move on from him.

Btw giving up on a player with a lot of potential like Gabbert, who is still really young, is a mistake! Here's something to compare both 25 years old

267 for 501 53.3%. (583 for 1061 54.9%)
3217 yards. (7319 yards)
11 TD 21 INTs. (27 TD 43 INTs)
63.1 rating. (68.2 rating)
19 games. (55 games)

417 for 784 53.2%
4395 yards
23 TDs 24 INTs
66.8 rating
29 games

Let's stop with the Gabbert talk, at least for now... Kap had 1 bad game, and overall has looked pretty solid in the first two games!

Or not... we did give Alex 8 years...
Anybody hear Colin cowherd's take on kaepernick...
He was a big believer few years back, cowherd did a little homework on kap and didn't like what he saw on Instragram ( poor judgement)...
Cowherd did say kap appeared bright as a student but his judgement is poor, and it translates to the football field

That's where we agree to disagree
Week 1 was acceptable
Week 2 was garbage time
Week 3 was hot garbage
And Kaep had a pff grade of -10.1 last year, he hasn't been good since 2013

Turns out is was stupid to fired Harbaugh. I hope Jersey York learned from this.

We'd be 1-2 with Harbaugh too. Firing Harbaugh was the right move. It might turn out Tomsula was the wrong one. Much like Erickson.

Week 1 and 2 were legitimately good. His completion percent was around 70%, his rating was like 98.0, etc... I think you're selling him a little short. More importantly, he looked good; regardless of what the stats say, he was was showing signs of genuine improvement. I'd say it was as good as he's looked since setting the world on fire during the Super Bowl run.

Week 3 was horrific though, no doubt about it.

Kaepernick is still the QB and will be unless he continues to have one bad game after another. I wanted all the starters out after the game was lost so the backups could get playing time. This is going to be a long year and the backups better be ready if the team continues to be beaten up. It would not be punishment for his play but to preserve him and keep injuries at bay.

Edit: The coaches probably have a good handle on CK's phsyche...so I'm good with whatever they do at this point but...

Wait....cowherd flip-flopped, that's a big shocker. I still remember, cowherd Alex take in 2011, about how smart Harbs was for taking Alex back at QB so he could go 1-15 and draft luck. Cowherd is a blow hard that's not nearly as smart as he would like his listeners to believe. I still think it's funny how he always harps are going to the best place and A+ this and A rated that and he basically went from the top sports company to the B level team. Basically cowherd is full of s**t.

I think this pretty much sums up one of his biggest issues, consistency.

Their issue is that he is neither one thing nor the other for any extended length of time. You need to go back to the 2013 season to find a run of more than a couple of games where Kaepernick posted consistently good grades. Even that year there was ugly play at the beginning of the season, and he didn't finish it as strongly as he had been playing, but his performance over the past 20 games since the beginning of the 2014 season has been completely up and down. He has three games in there that are All-Pro-caliber excellent, but four games that are "cut this guy right now" bad. Even the games between those two extremes are not consistently one thing or the other.

The only thing you can be sure about Colin Kaepernick right now is you have no idea what level of performance he will produce from one week to the next. At some point that in itself is all you need to know about his ability to start long-term and earn the bigger sums in that headline contract. The 49ers can chase the good Kaepernick for a while, and try to work out what produces those excellent games, but eventually you need to find a guy who may not have that ceiling, but whose floor doesn't extend several levels below the basement.
