what the hell is kap doing? first pass of the game he doesnt pull the trigger to the breaking out route. line isnt even an issue. he completes his drop but waits waits waits.

2nd gif is the next pick 6. double clutches and it's just horrible all around. as someone who loves Kap I cant defend this....

It's inexcusable. I love Kap and will continue to support him, but he has to eliminate these mistakes from his game. 1st throw he was late throwing the ball, he needed to get rid of it once he hit his back foot. 2nd throw was even worse. Late going through the progression and threw off balance falling backward.

Don't know what to say, other than it was two horrible plays that would never happen if he played with proper mechanics. I like that he spent much of the off-season working on these issues, but he's still got plenty of work to do. He needs to learn how to sync the progression and the throw with his dropback.

it's more than just his mechanics. it's his mind. the first pick 6 he completed his drop, had good footwork, and should have fired it to VD on the out route. a route you CANNOT throw late. instead for whatever reason didn't pull the trigger until it was too late..

and the 2nd pick 6 he gets through his progressions just fine and is LOOKING at Boldin open on the curl, and double clutches. for no reason. instead he double clutches and throws way off his back foot. his mind to me was the cause of his awful mechanics.

I agree, he needs get his mind right. He has to be faster going through the progression and that includes pulling the trigger on time. Seeing the WR open is fruitless if you don't get the ball to him. There's just no excuse for it, he has to make these throws.

is utterly depressing to see. especially since his first pass he is hesitating as IF he's already had a bad game and is already rattled. he threw a pick 6 vs. Greenbay in 2012 playoffs but never looked back. what happened. Geep needs to get him into a rhythm and a rhythm early. sick of running 1st and 2nd down every game having our first throw to be 3rd and long back up in our territory.

during the game it looked like the line completely whiffed on the first pick 6 but no, kap completed his drop just fine and didn't pull the trigger.. until it was too late

Like I said!! And people started bashing me on that lol

yup, drop back, hesitate, throw

all that work with the lord of timing in the offseason really rubbed off on our boy didnt it lol

Alex Smith didn't have a great game, but the chief Oline was beyond horrible.
He was sacked what, like 7 times! Compared to 1 sack the 49ers gave up. Smith was getting pressure before he even finished his drop back. Yet the Chiefs with Smith still had a chance to win in the 4th quarter.
LMAO. You're probably one of the guys who blame the majority of Kap's 52 sacks on Kap himself. But when Alex takes 7 sacks it's on the oline.

All sacks are not created equal!
There's coverage sacks, QBs fault sacks, and OL sacks!
If there's pressure before you get to the end of your drop back you have problems #cheifs

Not just that, but have you ever seen him step into a throw as he was about to take a hit? Always off his back foot.

i just feel like his mind isn't there. god knows why. maybe he needs to shave his face get a haircut and will feel better?
also,
If you think he will get better and more consistent anytime soon, don't fool yourself.

This kids footwork and mechanics are bad, real bad. It is almost to the point where he is cocky and overly stubborn in refusing to play with proper mechanics.

He is throwing the ball with nearly crossed feet, his feet are far too close to one another, and he is nearly standing straight tall.

Add all this crapola mechanics up and you have a QB that is never ready to throw the ball given his release.

NOT getting better anytime soon unless the coaches out coach the opponent and get Kap easy throws to read and make.

All the 3rd and longs are definitely making it difficult to find a rhythm. Kap used to bail us out in these situations, but right now he's dying for something to come easy.

I've long been in favor of running more run/pass packaged plays for Kap, where he can choose what to do based on defensive alignment. Hand the ball off, keep it himself, or swing the ball out quickly on a bubble screen, quick slant, etc... This is something the Eagles do a lot, and what the Redskins did with RGIII in his one successful season. People might freak out about that, but Kap needs easy completions and this fits his skill set.

He is not a dropback passer, Tomsula said so himself. So stop putting him in 3rd & long, let him get some easy completions on early downs, even if they only get 3-5 yards. It's something positive, it will set up the run game, opening up play-action. His pocket game can develop later with time, but he's not there yet.

Exactly THIS DROP BACK IS FINE. Every lineman picked up someone, it was just a SIMPLE BLITZ that a GOOD QUARTERBACK should be able to PUNISH. Good QB's punish defenses that blitz them. Kapernick doesnt.

its his 5th season, how much more time can we spend on him developing? Tired of this alex smith-like b******t and waiting on QBs to become something they never will

frustrating as hell
hes not a dropback passer is on the same level as "hes not a running forward running back" or "hes not a pass catching receiver" maybe even "hes not a ball kicking kicker"

Who was the target? Boldin? Anyway whoever it was should have come back for the ball aggressively.

All that is true, but is more than that and arguably more importantly is his total lack of football IQ which pretty much covers everything from his lack of progression reads, inability to read defenses and poor decision making.
