All that said, from the very beginning I knew he was going to be a project for at least 3 - 4 years and that was one thing I said we were going to have to deal with. In college, he made incremental improvements year after year, but it took him all four years to get to be a top NFL prospect.
My expectation was he would eventually get to the point where he could play, but would not be consistently good until he truly learned to be a complete NFL QB, which I thought would take him around 4 years. At this point, he's going into what, his fifth year? My expectation is that at this point he will again improve and hopefully in a way where it is VERY noticeable. That's the hope. A Kaepernick who makes better decisions is much more dangerous. Better utilization of the backs out of the backfield hopefully will help Kaep develop a more frequent tendency to scan through his progressions and get the ball to those outlets when that's what's immediately open.

Kaepernick has a great arm, but has made a lot of dangerous throws that he should learn he doesn't have to attempt, if he had just looked elsewhere. That touches on a combination of so many issues all in one. It's one thing to throw deep to a single covered guy and hope he can make a play -- it's another thing to try to push it deep to a triple-covered receiver because you locked onto that target from the start.
It's not that I don't expect him to never, ever, ever attempt something like that -- it's more than I want those to an extreme minimum, instead of consistently showing up like last season. Consistently poor decisions = turnovers = losses.
You limit mistakes and balance the risk when appropriate, and that's where you maximize your chances of winning games.

I'm probably biased toward giving Kap time to develop because of my own experience at learning to be a teacher. When I first started people said I was doing okay, but I really wanted to get to be a much better teacher. It took time and a lot of effort, but after several years I began to feel like I was finally getting to be where I wanted to be as a teacher. (At the risk of being too prideful, I believe I eventually became an excellent teacher.) I think some people like me can do an okay job at the beginning but it takes awhile to get a secure handle on everything enough to really put it together. I suspect Kap may also be somewhat like that when it comes to quarterbacking in the NFL.

Guess Kaepernick is a bad role model still because he was mean to the media?

How can you not like this guy? They give him a couple of $500 bottles of champagne and he passes it on to others because he's in training.

DefenderDX needs a warning for posting TMZ articles about Kaep and trying to incite.
Just my opinion.

Did you even read the article?!
He gave it to a bachelorette party in a clever attempt to hang out with them for the rest of the night, and possibly change the bachelorette's mind! Believe it or not these things happen when you're a sex symbol.

Love what he's doing here. "Kap partying in Seattle nightclub." Must've pissed off Seacawk fans left and right.

You're right. Why even acknowledge posters like that? What's the use?
