Well, I've got a real nice version of sticks being ran to the concept side but for whatever reason it's not showing up. Perhaps there are too many gifs on this particular page.

1994 - "Sticks concept"
This example throws to the concept side. The 1995 example on the previous page hit the quick on the opposite side.
Here is some play art illustrating the concept. "Sticks" is on the left side in this case. The gif is motioning Jerry for the flat route, this play art is using the back as the flat receiver.

Damn...looking at all this makes me realize how good we were and how great Jerry Rice was!

Yeah the original WCO and the versions continued by Holmgren and Shanahan are a joy to watch. Everything is so precisely executed. By the late 80s and on, it became a mission to get the ball in Jerry's hands by any means necessary. He was the perfect WR for the perfect offense. The results speak for themselves.

I thought I'd go ahead and put the different types of action passes in this thread.
Waggles-action pass that's based on a run play and provides the QB with extra blockers.
Boots-also known as naked, are based on runs but do not provide the QB with blockers...flow of the play is expected to influence the defense.
Sprint-QB takes a 45 degree release out of the pocket, is not based on a run play fake and it does provide an extra blocker for the QB
Dart/Dash-QB first movement is a drop back before breaking the pocket.
Rolls-QB movement is a rolling action out of the pocket.

Post #126 has a slide play. The play in that post is from the '99 holmgren book. I still remember Alex missing a wide open delanie walker by checking it to sliding back vs Baltimore on TG in 2011. We even ran it out of a split backfield.

One thing missing over the Harbaugh years was the TE finding the soft spot in the middle and settling down. VD didn't seem to handle this well and I think they decided to forget it and use him to stretch the field, which was more his strength. Not a dumb thing to do but we really need a TE who can be that outlet at times, espeically with T Smith and Simpson able to stretch the field. Boldin was excellent in the middle though!

They really did use VD as the only real vertical threat. I agree with you, I would love to see VD or any of our TEs used more like a traditional WCO TE. It's such a huge win offensively when you have a TE that's controlling the hash and underneath.

Game was 27-17 Rams and the had the ball on the 4 yard line. They botched the snap and the rest is history. Nothing but a backside slant, and great team blocking all the way down the field.
