Haha....5 titles in 14 years and 9 conference title game appearances in that same time span. Then when you factor in, this was probably the strongest conference the sport has seen based on its 13 game Sb win streak. I'd say they did just fine.

Also, what are you basing Tom dominating the 80s on? Joe was competing passes at a 64-65% clip with a peak of 70% in a league where 55% was the standard. Also, Joe only had a couple season with 500 pass attempts. Imagine the numbers he would have put up with 600 pass attempts which kinda seems to be the norm today. Hell in 1989 he had 3500 yards on like 390 pass attempts. That's almost a 5400 yard season based on 600 attempts. To think that the good QBs of the 80s and 90s wouldn't be putting comparable numbers to what top QBs do to day is laughable. In today's game, Joe would probably be a yearly 67%+, 4300-4500 yard, 30+ TD, 100+ qb rating guy.

See this is where I can't go with you. Joe regularly competed against HOFers to get to his SBs and the league was smaller, so was the SEASON itself and had MUCH better QB play. MUCH. Like not even close. And I don't mean yards yards yards everywhere yards. Remember the days when one turnover could seal a team's fate? In the 1st quarter? LOL.

Brady would have probably performed well. He would've had endure all those nasty hits that Montana, Marino, Elway, and Simms took tho, which would've impacted his play.

Agreed. He's a great QB..top 2...he's just not #1
We had top D's and rushing attacks every year I find it hard to believe Brady would struggle to win with that. The question is does he stay healthy in a more physical league. No way to answer that one.

Bills, Dolphins, Jets

Enough said.

all legendary franchises until Brady showed up.

Legendary? . Bills zero Super Bowl wins. Dolphins 2 Super Bowl wins, most recent 1974. Jets one Super Bowl win, 1969. Legendary if you mean the definition of stuff from the dawn of time .

So let me see now. The last year Buffalo appeared in a Super Bowl was 1993. Miami 1984. Jets 1969. Brady drafted? 2000.

Miami, Buffalo and the Jets didnt need Brady. They were perfectly capable of being crap without him playing for the Patriots.
LOL@ Thread title. Please do the right thing and change it to 'Brady's legacy secured'. Just admit it and get over it. Brady is the GOAT. It's been secured for quite some time. Next ques for Brady is he comparable to MJ?

Brady is a subject for NFL Talk. The comparison with Montana is by no means cut and dried. Comparing players from diffetent era's is next to impossible.

Thats one isuue longevity vs other qualities is another discussion. Theres nothing new to say. Its all been analyzed in this thead for the last year
Have to take into account in the old days i dont believe there was a salary cap and certainly no free agency. Yes u had to draft well and develop said talent, but it was a lot easier to keep the team together than it has been in the last 20 or 25 years. And before someone hops in and says the pats wouldnt have ever had moss or welker then, those guys were acquired via trade.

ya they've been bad for quite some time now. but let's not pretend like our division was that tough during the 80s. it's not like Falcons/Saints/Rams had a franchise QB. the only team that was decent in that division in the 80s was the Rams for a couple years.

Only people in 49er homers and Patriot homers would argue otherwise.

Flawed logic. To compare does not make equal. You can compare your old Ford with a Ferrari and by your logic that would make them equal.

Brady is a excellent qb. But not the best ever.

Brady is better.

You need to check the way the rules have been changed in the meantime to protect and favour the qb.

And, by the way, losing does not equal winning.

AGREED!!!!!! We can no longer compare players from different eras now that Brady has won more Super Bowls

Montana won 4 in 11 seasons, took Brady like 15 seasons to get there.

And Montana had far less talent around him
