5. There's no way the 49ers would have won in 92 and 93.

So wait.....the simple trade of Steve to KC is gonna make Joe play 3 more seasons then he did? If you're talking about the 1995 packer game that would have have made it a return trip to Dallas and then a potential SB vs Pitt in XXX. Denver was 1997.

How would things have been if Holmgren or Mike Shanahan had been our head coach, instead of Seifert?

Montana won his 4 by a combined 76.

against (much easier opponents). Like I said, Montana struggled against NFC teams like the Giants and Redskins. The super bowl back then was a joke. BTW, Brady's worse loss of his playoff career was by 15 points, Montana was by 46.

LOL much easier? Elway's Broncos? MVP Dan Marino's Dolphins? MVP Boomer Esiason's Bengals? MVP Ken Anderson's Bengals? In an era where you could murder the QB without a penalty?

I think we have at least one more ring, probably 2 with either Steve or Joe.

Personally, I would have loved to see how 1995 on would have played out under Shanny.
Tuck rule, Vinatieri, Spygate, Deflategate, Seattle choke, Atlanta choke.

NE never won a SB by more than 6 pts.

Brady has lost in the Super Bowl to Eli Manning and Nick Foles. Hes walked off the field with his head down while being showered with the other teams' confetti. Hes thrown picks and fumbled the ball in big moments in the SB. Hes not Joe Montana. Quantity does not trump quality.

He got a comfortable, offense friendly, protected era of quarterbacking to play in, and because of it he stayed healthy enough to keep going for 17+ years. He would never have survived in the 80's.

Would he? Because I don't ever remember him having to score 41 to win.

He didn't have to back then. Officials let DBs hold, drape all over WRs, hit hard and spear motherf**kers back then. Officials didn't nurse QBs like an infant being breast fed back then. The game wasn't all about babying QBs like these days in a pass happy ass league.

Montana would have murdered defenses if he was gifted the soft ass rules they have for QBs / offenses THESE DAYS.

Of course this!!

The difference between a 49er homer and a Brady guzzler is a #spermBelly

I don't think Joe ever over inflated balls or use stickum.

Or better yet...let's not trade Haley and win 2 more rings with Steve.

The Haley deal did hurt.

After the 94 Super Bowl we lost Deion and Ricky. We haven't had a shutdown corner since.

NOT the 95 Packers... that wasn't even a CHAMPIONSHIP..

I'm talking about the year Green Bay Packer team that lost to Denver in the Super Bowl.. the year we had Woodson, Kevin Greene and lost to the Packers at home..No way Joe Montana would have lost to Green Bay.. He just wont..

are you telling me that the 92 49ers at home would have lost with Joe Montana vs Dallas????

the 93 Dallas team would have been a better argument but I still think that we could have beaten them because of JOE...

as good as Steve Young was, he just didn't have the IT that Joe had..

Let's go back even farther, realistically we woulda smoked Oakland in 1983 had not been for the crooked officiating in the nfccg, in the 1987 divisionals yes Joe looked flat against Minnesota but so did the rest of the team. We clearly were the best team in the league both years so there's 6 right there before 1990

Also lest not forget:

MONTANA GETS SURGERY FOR DISK
Published: September 16, 1986

Joe Montana, who led the San Francisco 49ers to two Super Bowl victories, underwent back surgery yesterday to correct a ruptured disk that threatens his career.

--------------------------------------
September 04, 1991|By Nancy Gay | Nancy Gay,Knight-Ridder

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Joe Montana's stay on injured reserve could extend well beyond the four weeks the 49ers quarterback is scheduled to miss.

The question of how long the healing takes comes down to what's hurt and what's not.

Dr. Arthur White, who performed surgery on Montana in 1986 to remove a ruptured disk in his back and whose Daly City clinic is treating Montana's elbow, confirmed recent published reports, saying the injury is a torn ligament as well as a torn tendon. He said it will require a minimum of three months to heal completely. If Montana were out three months, he would miss 12 games.

Dude was tough, he had to be because back then qbs were treated as equals on the football field, not some pampered prissy hiding behind a ratings quota from up top

Also the 87 divisional game was the Anthony Carter fluke 10 reception 227 yards.........fast forward to 4:30 seconds
