The Tyree catch was the luckiest play of all time. He should for sure have 5 titles. Brady is better :)

That's funny...we could say the same exact thing!

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda. Roger shouldn't have fumbled the ball in 90 and Ronnie shouldn't have been flagged for two PIs in 83 oh and Brady shouldn't even have been in that first SB (you know the fumble that wasn't called a fumble). So if you want to play that game Joe should have 6 rings or at the very least been in 6 SBs with four rings and Brady should only have 3. Joe is the man who put our franchise on his right arm the first 2 SBs. I don't think Brady wins those SBs if he's QB those teams. Definitely not the first one he couldn't have beat Dallas with the crap offense we had in 81. Tell me something what were Brady's SB stats in his first SB? Anyone know and don't tell me 1-0 is the only stat that matters because Brady jock supporters always point to his stats so what were they? How good did he make everyone else around him in that game?
PERSONALLY, I WOULD USE THIS FORMULA IN REGARDS TO THE MONTANA vs BRADY COMPARISONS..

First Super Bowl:

49ers vs Bengals ( 49ers won due to the Goal Line Stand ) - - - Patriots vs Rams ( Patriots won on a FG and a controversial SPYGATE)

Second Super Bowl:

49ers vs Miami ( OG Randy Cross said it best, "they came to see an offense but the wrong one showed up!! " ) - - - Patriots vs Carolina ( Thanks to a short kick by the Carolina kicker, Tom Brady had a nice drive and won the game by a FG once more )

Third Super Bowl:

49ers vs Bengals ( 49ers won a close one as Joe Cool showed why a great player doesn't need to be great all the time, they only need to be great when they have to be ) - - - Patriots vs Eagles ( a very ill and out of shape Eagle QB in McNabb and and Injured TO losses to Brady and the Patriots by 3 )

Fourth Super Bowl:

49ers vs Denver ( Joe knows Super Bowl as they call this game of his.. and the only question was if Joe was better here or than the Miami Super Bowl Victory) - - - Patriots vs Settle ( will everyone remember the great Brady drive had Pete Carroll gave the ball to the Beast Mode inside 2 yeard line?? )

why kind of formula is this and how can anyone use it
... same reason why you think that the Montana vs Brady is even an agrument...

man that is a good formula ..

why are we going through all this again? first of all Brady isn't even the best quarterback today. That goes to Aaron Rodgers. stop talking about stacked teams. New England has had plenty of stacked teams and Joe has won Super Bowls without Jerry Rice - 2 in fact.

only people who have actually seen Brady and Montana play should be allowed to post on this thread.

I don't know about not allowing people to post, but I saw ever single game of Montana's career and I have a few thoughts on this.

- it's simply not true that Montana played on what we would call 'stacked' offenses all the time. His receivers in the first two SB's were Dwight Clark and an older Freddie Solomon. I liked both those guys a lot, but anyone who thinks that was a better receiving duo than what Brady has had is just flat out wrong. Solomon was not very fast and Clark was slow. All of Montana's championship teams had great defense - that much is true.

- I don't agree that Brady would have thrived in Montana's era. QB's got just beat up back in those days and Brady hasn't really shown me the mindset of being able to withstand that kind of pressure and beating. For cryin out loud, Brady throws a tantrum if there's an off sides penalty. He's gotten the benefit of lots of protection from the refs that Montana never even dreamed of having. The Giants put Montana in the hospital during one playoff game.

- Yes, Brady gets rid of the ball, but he simply doesn't have the quickness to evade some of the pass rush that Montana dealt with. And Montana actually had a quicker release than Brady does.

- Montana never yelled at team mates, never screamed or glared at the sidelines, etc. He was just in a cooler space while playing the game. And none of Montana's wins were gifts.

Bottom line: I think Brady is one of the great QB's of the modern era, but I actually think it's ridiculous to argue that he's better than Montana. You simply cannot be better than perfect in Super Bowls. You can be as good, but not better. Brady is not perfect; he's great, but the train has already left the station on this. He's thrown interceptions in Super Bowls and he's been on the losing side a couple times... PERIOD!
.. and the only reason why QBs now a days are putting outrageous stats is because of the NFL wants it this way.. they want a good show!!!

many fans (who never saw the 70s or 80s) may not even realize that todays WRs are basically running around FREE

Here are the FIVE biggest reason why today's QB seems to be MORE advanced than they were back then..

1) no bump n run coverage to re-direct their routes

2) no touching the WRs after 5 yards from scrimmage (if Brady and his WRs w/Randy Moss had hard time against the Giants and their pass rush, can you just imagine what type of beating up Brady Manning Rogers and Brees would take if their WRs are being molested by Lott, Eric Wright, Hayes & Haynes all over down field)???

3) Divas (WRs) feel safer going over the middle because of the new "defenseless rule"

4) The days of the old " head hunters " are long gone .. can you imagine how much money Ronnie Lott, Ken Easley or even At**ter would be paying on a weekly basis???

5) QBs are more relaxed because they instinctively know that they can't be touched

Nice post! And can you imagine how relaxed Montana would look these days? He mostly looked relaxed back in the day. He'd have trouble staying awake now.

yeah he looks very relaxed...the SOB already has it easier...and he also needs to cheat

.. and this is also why Dan Marino's quick released was 2nd to none.. Back in the days, you really had to be that talented to get the ball to where it needed to be because as a QB, you are gonna get hit, and your passes needed to be where they had to be in order to make the play or it will be a 6 FREAKIN PICKIN all day long!!

Trust me my friend, I played QB back in the days here at Hollywood and once you get your bell rang by the crown of the helmet under your chin, suddenly, those pass rushers are coming much faster and faster from corner of your eyes!!
as for Joe Cool, had the guy been playing today, he'll make it look like he's playing QB with rushers counting either ONE MISSISSIPPI or ONE ALLIGATOR as he seats back there and pick Bill Bellichick's Defense apart..
