it took Brady 17 years and 32 playoff games to tie Joe Montana's record for most 3+ TD play off games

GOAT JM

As has been stated, different eras. Joe was King of his. Brady is King of this one. In my opinion, Joe is much more impressive given the rules differences.

Joe will always have "The Catch" that kickstarted the dynasty. Brady has the "Tuck Rule", "Spygate", "Deflategate", any other stupid -gate I may have missed (damn, media loves to play up Watergate with every scandal).

For me, Joe hasn't been supplanted. Still the best QB of all time.

Too bad the patriots are known cheaters. If not, then i would put brady over montana
7th SB for Brady. Most people in this board will obviously say Montana is GOAT but I seriously doubt that would be the case among most football fans. Eras are tough to compare but there is no denying the all time records, championships, and awards that Brady has won. I'm just glad NYG beat the Pats two times or there wouldnt even be a debate.
Brady has a legit argument, but for me, he's playing in the most QB-friendly system in the NFL. There hasn't been a Patriot QB that didn't look good under center. Bellichek is just that good. He's players and coaches are just riding his coat tails.

I'd love to see Brady play for another team. He definitely wouldn't be looking elite.

Kind of funny because that was often said of Montana playing for Bill Walsh and his WCO. Both certainly had the advantage of playing for 2 of the greatest coaches ever and terrific systems.

All of this. I can't believe it'll be 7. I still remember the first time. Damn Brady is so much fun to watch

Like I mentioned, comparing eras is tough. But it isnt like the passing game in the 80s was like the 1950s when Joe played. Dan Fouts threw for 4700 and 4800 + yards two years in a row at the same time Montana was starting to shine. Joe did have the GOAT at WR for much of his career and, in my opinion, the greatest offensive mind ever calling the plays in Bill Walsh.

I am not trying to take anything away from Joe. Just saying that I think most people would put Brady as the GOAT given his numbers and wins.

Brady says Montana is the GOAT. I respect his opinion over most.

He was a huge Niner fan and a huge Montana fan growing up. I get that he would say that especially since he is not the kind of guy that would boast about himself I dont think. Maybe when his career is done he will say he is at Joe's level.

Here is my hope. My hope there is a QB that the Niners draft someday that is a Tom Brady fan. It is only fair. It will complete the cycle and return balance to the force.

Joe also didn't need to have the refs save him with "The Montana Rule" to get to the big game, or have his kicker win a few of the Super Bowls for him, or his opponent's coach call the biggest boneheaded play in the history of Super Bowls.
Joe also played when the game was played by men, not this upscale flag football league. Brady wouldn't have lasted nearly as long or have done well with the way he crumbles the second he is touched.
