NE is basically what could happen if you get an all-timer at QB & HC for 17 years. We got Walsh for 10 and Montana for 12. Would have been nice to have awash thru the 1996 season. I also think what we accomplished in the 80s and 90s was done in a stronger league, especially at the top of the league.

Just saw brady throw for 384 yds. Really like him when he has a pocket. Great periscope. Nice delivery. Respect the durability, the consistency. Good qb in a good system.

Not close to Joe.

it's obvious.

But he is very good. I'm happy for him.

7th SB for Brady. Most people in this board will obviously say Montana is GOAT but I seriously doubt that would be the case among most football fans. Eras are tough to compare but there is no denying the all time records, championships, and awards that Brady has won. I'm just glad NYG beat the Pats two times or there wouldnt even be a debate.
you don't think today's rules makes it easier ?

Salary cap now. Those 9ers teams were LOADED with Hal of famers. Can't say the same about the Patriots.

As has been stated, different eras. Joe was King of his. Brady is King of this one. In my opinion, Joe is much more impressive given the rules differences.

Joe will always have "The Catch" that kickstarted the dynasty. Brady has the "Tuck Rule", "Spygate", "Deflategate", any other stupid -gate I may have missed (damn, media loves to play up Watergate with every scandal).

For me, Joe hasn't been supplanted. Still the best QB of all time.

Joe also didn't need to have the refs save him with "The Montana Rule" to get to the big game, or have his kicker win a few of the Super Bowls for him, or his opponent's coach call the biggest boneheaded play in the history of Super Bowls.
Joe also played when the game was played by men, not this upscale flag football league. Brady wouldn't have lasted nearly as long or have done well with the way he crumbles the second he is touched.

LOL " The way he crumbles the second he is touched". Ha. He has taken tons of hits over the years by guys bigger and stronger than they were in the 80s. He should get credit for his durability in addition to his obvious performance on the field.

I just laugh at how so many people in here (many of whom are too young to have even seen Joe play) just dismiss Brady as being the QB that Joe was. There is no obvious answer to who the GOAT is. When Joe was asked that same question he said the same thing and mentioned guys like Sammy Baugh. The numbers say Brady but numbers and eras are so tough to compare. What would be interesting is if they asked all the players and coaches in the HOF who they think is #1. I think a case can be made for either of the two but is certainly is not a slam dunk thats for sure.
I used to hate on the Pats, but they just get it. It's about getting s**t done, not pontificating.

Right now it's 1A and 1B when comparing Montana to Brady...now if he wins another Super Bowl?

Old School NFL rules Brady, Manning, Rogers would not play a full season every year. Roethlisberger maybe the only one that would last since he has always been fat and durable and showed he could take hits.

This plus the Pats are proven cheaters.

If Montana had appeared in seven Superbowls, he would have seven rings. That's the difference. Montana was money.

Getting to 7 Super Bowls is impressive wouldn't you say? Let alone already winning 4 of them and getting the chance to win another.

Ok, but he didn't get to 7. Lol
I hope the Kyle finds a way to blow them out, so we can make the argument Montana was perfect, and never got embarrassed in the SB.
