I still give Joe the edge because Brady has had a longer career due to hit the easier rules. But if Joe is Jordan, Brady is Lebron. They're both great.

But Lebron hasn't won more championships than Jordan.

The salary cap and F/A also makes 5 that much more difficult.

wait ...wait...wait.....

Brady was not locked out in the middle of his prime.....

and the Salary cap evens all the teams out, it makes the QB position so much more important, Im not sure it HURTS QBs, it likely helps them. There is less super teams beating the hell out of each other.

This is a such an easy comparison.... Montana is not iron man, Brady is. Montana was not going to win by attrition and have a coach spend 15+ years to build 5 or 6 different teams him. How many more SBs could have been had Joe been healthy?

The NFC was not nearly as weak as the AFC has been either, the Pats ended up in some super bowls they would not have been in if the NFL was going to just pick the best 2 out of the league. They over achieved by getting hot. The 49er teams by comparison where hands down one of the two strongest teams in all of their Super Bowl runs.

This Pats Super Bowl team does not beat any of Montana's teams. Montana had more talent to work with...

I think you put Brady on those 49er teams, they likely win their games. Put Montana on the pats and they get the first 3...maybe they pick up an extra...but he is likely retired by the time they loose to the Giants.

IF i need a QB for one playoff run, Ill take Joe....if i am going to build a Franchise...duh.... i am grabbing Brady.
I just cant crown Brady. Besides the era differences, with Montana getting killed and Brady being protected, Brady has rings from so many scandals. Tuck rule, spygate, deflategate, etc.

Montana was perfect, and clean.

Montana would never put himself in the position that Brady was in. Montana would have also carved that swiss cheese of a 2nd half defense too. Montana is the GREATEST ever. No ifs, ands or buts.

So true and people are forgetting Brady threw a pick six that put them in that trailing situation not to mention has lost two superbowls let me repeat that oh wait....he lost two Super Bowl's. Also if you consider that cheating involved with videotaping practices you have got to admit that he probably would've lost those at least the rams and panthers too. I think cheating and filming practices is worth more than their measly three point Victories.

Montana absolutely dominated his competition which was a lot better competition then the Falcons the Philadelphia eagles and the Panthers. The Rams were good but they were proven to be cheaters, and never would of won that first one had it not been for the tuck rule. so that's a loss and his defense did the work in that game. And the Seattle Seahawks well we all know what happened bad playcalling. Meanwhile Montana smoked the number one defense against Denver by dropping touchdowns on them all day. 55 points baby. It's not even a discussion. Brady lost superballs Montana did not. If Montana went to seven I guarantee you he would've not lost one.

Also, Montana out did Marino, Elway, Boomer when he was the MVP and Denvers number one defense he made look like the last place defense. No INTS boom. Brady missed a couple of wide-open Throws today as well against an ad atl defense. Montana does not have it in him I'm sorry. Brady is great but Montana is just better.

Jesus some of you guys are coping so hard with this...just move on. It's ok, just remember that Brady was one of us before we didn't draft him and it should make it better.

Salary cap is now better for QBs? Yes because keeping your best players is that much easier now...

What Brady accomplished last night was insane, no he didn't do it all on his own but he was a huge part of it. He was getting absolutely killed out there and playing with a lot of emotion because of his mother yet he didn't let it rattle him and let it affect him on the field and his teammates all admitted they fed of his calmness and apparently(i find it hard to believe) never doubted themselves. Yes the defense made key plays vs Atlanta but the Pats had to make their plays.

Also let's not forget for the excuses crowd Brady was getting very little help in the early part of the game with key drops, no run game at all and constant pressure and hits.

Atlanta had a 99.9% win probability with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Record for SB wins
Record for SB starts
Record for SB MVPs
Biggest comeback in SB history
Record for SB TDs in career
Record for SB yards in game
Record for SB yards in career

You simply can't rationally argue against this.

lol such a joke.

Brady lost two SBs to a miracle play the defense couldn't stop and again when his defense couldn't hold the lead with 54 seconds left in the game after Wes Welker dropped a key pass which would've allowed the Pats to kill the clock and likely go up with a game clinching FG.

The cheating scandals you and others holding on for dear life like to bring up had nothing to do with their actual play in those SBs. They were taping defensive signals to try and find what teams play in specific down and defense and give them an edge with playcalling...in later games.

How many games did the Pats have against Carolina and St Louis before they played them in the SB? Also a ton of other coaches came out and said they were doing the same exact thing.

There have been plenty of stories coming out from former niner players including Joe and Rice talking about 49ers "getting an edge" should we strip away all of our titles and put *on them? Fair is fair right? Or is it only if you get caught?

Montana's teams were way more stacked than this young Pats team compiled of young players, low draft picks and off the street free agents. Comparing the teams is absolutely ridiculous. 49ers were way more talented across the board.

No question Montana was the best SB player ever but we would just be speculating how he would do if he got to 3 more games. The fact that he didn't means he lost to a lesser team...
Given what he has done, Brady is the best ever. I can't deny that reality as a Niner fan any longer--ask Joe, he will say the same thing. The funny thing, it doesn't lessen how truly great Joe was and how blessed we were as Niner fans to be able to witness that greatness.

He is the best ever because:

1) Spygate
2) Deflategate
3) Unknown gates
4) Tuck rule
5) Marshawn Lynch not getting the ball
6) Inexperienced coaching by Atlanta - handing the trophy over
7) Never dominating a Superbowl win

The Greatest Ever
Tom Brady's the GOAT.
I like Joe's answer -

"You can't compare the different eras, what about Sammy Baugh or Otto Graham ?"

Graham reached the Championship game in all 10 of his seasons and won 7.

Brady is the best QB I've seen play.

I started watching football at the age of 10 putting me in the Steve Young era.

I won't say Brady is the best QB of all time, but I will say he's the best QB I have ever seen.
Those same "oh but wait, this can be said, he had this in his favor, that goin for him, etc."'s can be said about Joe. Simple fact is Brady just surpassed Joe. Of course there will be those who wont accept it, and they dont have to. However to set the bar, "Brady has to do xyz", and then to move it after he does that is rediculous. The man did what he had to surpass Joe in mostly every endevor, just let it be.

At this point, only some Niner fans don't think Brady is GOAT.

Not only at QB, but GOAT in the NFL.
Brady gonna win like 2 more championships
Brady is the GOAT get over it. Doesnt take anything away from Joe, but you guys arguing that our guy's 4 are better than this guy's 5 (with the greatest comeback of all time) are the type of fans that make us look like stupid homers to everyone else. hard to argue when Brady has Montana beat in damn near every category
