You can call Brady the greatest QB of all time while still respecting the greatness of Montana. It isn't a knock on Montana at all. Tom Brady has earned that respect. He led his team to 7 superbowls with 5 wins. That's insane. He also just led the biggest comeback in SB history.

The one thing Montana has on him is he never gave in to the pressure. Zero SB losses and zero INTs.

Credit where credit is due. It's ok to say Brady is the GOAT and Montana is right there with him. They are clearly the two greatest at the position.

In the 80's, "sports science" was unchecked steroid usage.

I agree. Both guys reached the summit.

I've seen both Tom Brady and Joe Montana played in my lifetime. Joe was awesome in his era and Tom the same. I cannot decide which one is the best. One thing I've always felt when Joe was on the field, I never think 49ers would lose again. I feel the same with Tom. That's how great both of them are. It's a tie. Different era for each player.

Unless he is playing the NY Giants. That's his one blemish. If you're so great, how do you lose to the same team twice in the SB. Brady is great but I would still take Joe in a SB over him.

Joe also lost to GiantS in post season

How many more rings would Montana have if he had all the sports science, nutrition, and physiology knowledge Brady has?

lmao typical old timers response. we had it so rough back then, lets make sure no one ever gets as much credit as our guys because theyre younger

i dont think either side is valid, joe got hit and hit often by smaller/slower people but hit harder because more things were legal. joe was tough as nails. brady is getting hit, albeit much less, but still getting hit by much bigger, much faster men. outside from being hit though brady has accomplished more . the seattle defense brady beat was just as tough as anything joe faced back then in my opinion.
Time to give Brady that title now... It hurts but damn it he deserves it.

Who cares anymore. Was a different time and era. Joe had his years and Brady his.

He isnt though. Its obvious uf you saw the two play. Rogers is the only qb from this era thats in the conversation.

Very different giants team with how many all pros at linebacker? Not the pile of garbage wildcard giant teams that dont start to gel til december 15.

And how many all pros did Joe have compared to Brady?
So is everyone in agreement that Brady is the GOAT ?

Some still on the Montana train. Though most of them coincidentally are a little young to have witnessed his prime.

You can't ignore what Brady has done. 5 SB wins. 7 appearances. Rodgers is a great QB but he isn't on their level yet.

What did Montana do that Brady hasn't?

This thread title did not age well.
Joe Montana is #2. At least he was surpassed by a Bay Area kid that was a 49er fan growing up.
