San Mateo baby!!!
BRADY is the GREATEST of this ERA..

BUT he will NEVER BE BETTER THAN JOE ...

and I'm sure if we have a SPORTS WIDE SURVEY, no one will PICK Brady over Joe when it comes to playing in the BIGGEST GAME !!

Even after he led the greatest comeback in superbowl history? (Passing a record he previously shared?)
list of records he set this postseason
1. Tom Brady*
2. Joe Montana

*Tuck Rule, Spygate, Deflategate... Adam Vinatieri

I have a lot of respect for Tom Brady, obviously an all time great, but the asterisk is what will always keep me slanted (no pun intended) toward Joe. That and my obvious bias towards the Niners lol

Until they allow QBs to be hit after the ball is released and WRs to get mugged during their routes, it's a different game. Not sure that Montana would be better than Brady in TODAY's football..but I am pretty sure that Brady would not be as good as Joe in pre-1994 football.
TB is greatest QB of the generation of football.

Rules changes are the key

IMO, Joe was best of his generation when WR rules were different

Joe, IMO, would never have withstood the beatings Unitis took and he was the greatest of his gen

THINK about what you just asked..

biggest comeback..

That alone tells you that JOE was never in that predicament.. plus, look at some of Brady's wins (w/all due respect)

1. Kicker wins it vs the Rams (not to mention the HIDDEN VIDEOS)

2) Kicker wins it vs the Panthers

3) THE CALL 1 - Seattles' decision to pass the ball inside the 3 yard line

4) THE CALLS 2 - Falcons' decision to throw the ball on two consecutive plays when their kicker only needed 3 more yards to show off his legs.

plus, don't tell me the records that Brady put up in the Super Bowl, had Montana played for 7 of them, his records would have been out of reach !!

Montana had more than 7 chances to make it. He couldn't.
This is not even an argument anymore lol

Kicker winning the game has to be the lamest argument of all time. QB has to get the kicker into FG range for them to attempt a game winning FG.

Matty Ice had 52 seconds when the game was tied to get his team into FG range to win it.

Did he. no.

lol

Yesterday, the Patriots were down 14-0. Tom Brady threw a pick-6 and the Patriots were down 21-0.

Do you remember January 9th, 1988? A playoff game? Vikings at 49ers? The 49ers were down 13-3. Late in the second quarter, Joe Montana was picked off by Najee Mustafaa, who returned it 48 yards for a touchdown, putting the Vikings up 20-3. God, that's almost the exact same thing!

But yeah, you're right, Joe was "never in that predicament". Well, I mean, he was. Because it's almost identical. Joe went 12-26 that game, with 0 TD and 1 INT (42.0 passer rating). In fact, he was benched in the third quarter for Steve Young.

But hey, remember, none of this happened in the Super Bowl, so it doesn't matter. Remember, if Joe Montana struggled earlier in the playoffs, we pretend that it didn't happen. You know, it's funny... it's almost like, if Joe Montana didn't play terribly in this game that the 49ers could've been to another Super Bowl? Isn't that weird? It's almost like the "never lost a Super Bowl" argument is asinine, because there were playoff games that Montana was awful, and those games prevented the 49ers from getting to more Super Bowls. It's great that Montana was flawless in the Super Bowl. It's too bad he wasn't always flawless in the playoffs, or we would've won even more Super Bowls.

Its dumb to compare ERAs, we cant put Montana in this era and we cant put Brady in Montana's. There is no debate its fantasy, all we really have are memory and stats. Seattle game is a sorry excuse, it was obvious that they were thinking pass because they thought the Pats were thinking Lynch which was the obvious play, had they pulled it off imo everyone would have said Carrol was smart for passing since Lynch was the obvious choice. The second is you're removing the Pats drive to take the lead before Seattle's last possession which is unfortunate and i think you guys do that to fit a narrative that Brady cant win on his own, which is also wrong. And the Falcon excuse is cute except they gave up a 25 point lead, it was obvious that the Defense gave up and so did that Offensive line.

For me its tough, Montana was perfect in his 4 wins, never throwing pics and never needing his kicker to win, on the other hand Brady needed his defense and his kicker in his first two SB's and he also lost two against the Giants. However his regular season numbers will go down as one of the greatest ever (better than Montana's) and his postseason performances are THE greatest of all time as far appearances and his overall numbers in those games. IMO in the SB Montana still gets the slight edge, I feel like Brady needs to win one more and would supplant Joe.

P.S. also compare Montana's margin of victory in those SB's vs Brady's
