The new PS rules are as follows, all players that are put on the practice squad have to clear waivers, so Beathard and Wilson would need to be exposed to waivers, but vested veterans don't need to go through waivers. Though I doubt a guy like Grasu or Nelson would accept a PS salary, which would only be $204K, as for the protected players, they need to protected by Tuesday 4 PM EST each week, the following Monday they become unprotected, thus allowed to sign elsewhere.
The only issue I have with keeping so many vested veterans on the 53 is you guarantee their salaries for the 2020 season, so Cyprien, Austin, Nelson, Brown, Grasu, etc... may not make it the entire season with guys coming back like Deebo, Aiyuk, Richburg, etc... Thus it's kind of a waste of cap room, not to mention they're strapped for cap room right now.
