That leaves the decision for that fifth spot coming down to Dante Pettis or Marquise Goodwin. The 49ers believe Dante Pettis is improving and has a lot to offer due to his versatility. At this stage, unless there's an injury, I don't see how Goodwin gets back on the field with the 49ers."
I'm fine with Pettis taking over for Goodwin at this point. Sanders has the speed to stretch the defense that we only thought Goodwin had. Marquis won't be here next year anyways imo

I think Goodwin left the team for a few days because he was demoted and couldn't handle it mentally. Obviously he's okay now but he's not seeing the field unless someone gets hurt

Pettis definitely offers more, but we need to get a deep threat established. I'd like to see Goodwin and Bourne rotating based on personnel or other situations. For example, the Washington game was tailor made for Bourne, Samuel, and Sanders (if we had him at the time).
In our big games (Seattle, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Green Bay), I'd like to have Goodwin out there because of how he affects defensive coverage.

Goodwin and Sanders together make it real tough for defenses to put 8 in the box.

If he left the team because of the Sanders trade then that's pretty weak AF.

So what's the update on McGlinchey and Witherspoon? We know that Staley and Juice plan on playing, but wonder if the other 2 will suit up.

Doesn't sound like Spoon is going to play. McG.. he's playing coy. I don't know if he's hoping they don't prep for him and then he actually plays, or vice versa where they prep for him and it winds up being Brunskill or Skule for another week.
My wild guess at the 7 inactives:
QB Beathard
DT Taylor
CB Witherspoon
K Gould
OT McGlinchey (has to be in game shape, so I'll say he sits one more game)
WR Goodwin
RB Wilson

It really is incredible that we're pulling Goodwin off as a scratch again.
If they scratch Goodwin again, then I think it may be personal with Shanahan. As clutch as Bourne has been, I would love to see Goodwin and Sanders on the field together in some packages to dictate over the top coverage.

If they sit Kittle against Seahawks, they might go with 6 WR's.

The receiver line-up looks right. Do you think, though, that the receivers will move around to different positions quite a bit?
