There are definitely similarities between Hayne and McElhenny. Thanks for the clip.

WTF was that at 1:58? It looked like some kind of hallelujah in the middle of his run

At 2:17, #33 was knocked down with ball then got up and started running...is that permitted?

The run at 1:58 was by John Henry Johnson, probably the greatest blocking RB ever. The run you are referring to was one of my favorites because I saw him make that run at Kezar. He would break a tackle and wave his free arm in the air like a wild man. With McElhenny, Johnson and Joe Perry, the Million Dollar Backfield truly was awesome. Then, of course, Y.A. Tittle was at QB. ALL FOUR ARE IN THE HALL OF FAME.
As I said, growing up McElhenny was my favorite player and when I saw Hayne run more than 60 years later, it was like DEJA VU. Incredible similarities.

McElhenny was once given a plaque by a Bears fan, the inscription read "To the most respected opponent the Bears ever faced. If everyone played the game like Hugh McElhenny, wouldn't it be beautiful."
I've watched Hayne for almost a decade and nothing could be be more true about him as well. On the field at times he is simply breathtaking, a true excitement machine and indeed beautiful to watch. The hype is nuts at the moment and he will either sink or swim but regardless of how it turns out it will be damn fun to watch.

I fully expect Hayne to light it up tonight. It's what world class athletes do when they get on the big stage and Tomsula is ready to turn him loose...

By the end of the season this thread will be about who is better? Hayne or McElhenny, you blokes have no idea what you have on your hands yet and nor should you yet, i'd be exactly the same as you guys if an NFL star came to my club and American fans started comparing him to our greatest player, to be honest id be insulted.
Ive watched Jarryds career on the park and behind the scenes since he was 15, the kid is a once in 100 year RL player, i believe when he left Australia for SF he was the best RL player in the world, who says a player like that wont be one of the best for SF or where ever he goes.
Keep an open mind lads, your dealing with a freak

I have expected him to suit up tonight and at least return all punts. As of now, I will really be disappointed if he does not. Given the stage, there is more to consider than just the ability to help the team (which he definitely can do). 49er Nation, the country (countries) await the Hayne experience. Bring it on!

I have to admit 50s nfl looked better than 50s Nrl, I mean athlete wise. Way better. Anything before the 80s in the Nrl looks like 10 year olds recovering from car accidents running in slow motion.
Was that even a black guy I saw? Wow you guys were serious a long time ago. That said, mcelhenny looked like he had a big broad ass. I think hayne would kill all those guys.

Hayne runs a lot like Mac, shake and bake yet straight ahead. How good was Mac? He's in the Hall of Fame. Hayne's running style is very similar and very unique, and he goes at 220!
For those who'd like to compare Hayne's running style with McElhenny, check out this video at 1:10 and 1:25-1:50. Mac wore #39. The whole video is only 7 minutes and is a pictorial history of the 49ers...Your opinions are welcome.
McElhenny and Hayne
Thanks for the vid, really enjoyed that..
You know your stuff...
