HAYNE - Love the guy, and somehow makes guys miss and gains yards - but is it just me, does he look like he's running slow motion sometimes? LOL.

A lot of people comment on that. He's not the fastest on the field but I think it's just smoothness and conservation of effort that make him look slow. Another theory is that he has a slowmo button he can flick to give the coaches more opportunity to admire his style

When he used to play State of Origin, I would always be yelling at the TV for someone to tackle him, as he seemed to always have so much time and space. And I'd take a deep breath once he was tackled. He has always been a freakish athlete, just love watching transition to american football. Every week he is getting better and better.

And he still made a big play and made guys miss. Apart from the fumble that is.

What ever happened to that one kid we released last year in preseason. I cant remember his name, but he was tearing it up.

I think that was Gaskins wasn't it?

*edit* nope it was Winston. I think he signed with the Browns didn't he?

Thanks. Yeah, this guy. I know it was pre-season, but he ran like a beast. I can only guess he was a horrible blocker.
I would rather have taken Rodger, than Bush, it looks like there are a few old guys still available in FA, but nobody I would want.

In his limited action Bush has looked strong to me. But the question is whether his age is causing him to become injury prone? He's been in the league for 10 plus years now. Thats a long time for a RB, even if he was used more as an X factor than a true work horse.

We may find out more about Davis against The Pitts especially if Ellington ends up being out and Hayne gets the role of PR/KR.

Hayne is obviously a natural in open play despite the muff and I think he has been pretty good in picking up the RB position so far.

I'm smiling so far knowing that all the experts have said no way Hayne will make it(done, ill score that as 7 zip) and no way the 49ers are doing anything this year(More pts to come).

Fingers crossed by end of year the 49ers have shown a lot of people just like Haynesy did that anything is possible.

Team is doomed if Kaepernick is injured, other than that no one person is that indispensible. My next most important offensvie player would be Staley or Boldin, followed by Boone and then Hyde. So this is always a matter of concern but few teams had as much talent as the 9ers do going into this season.

Edit: Unproven, granted, but talent none the less.
Have to disagree with you here. I thought Gabbert did a pretty good job of leading the team during the preseason. If Kaepernick went down I think he might be able to keep the team competitive by limiting turnovers, and relying on the running game. He showed some running ability of his own during the summer and while certainly not in Kaepernick's league in that regard I think he could keep the chains moving.

Gabbert had a pretty decent preseason, so you could be right but I'm still not convinced he is an NFL QB. Hope he is as that would mean we have a pretty strong team overall.

Obviously if Kap went down and gabbert took over for the season the coaches would need to tailer plays to suit him, with him and kap having such different styles ?

The main difference would be Gabbert wouldn't threaten any defense by running the ball. Not going to dedicate a spy in case Gabbert gashes them for 30+ yds when they got everyone covered downfield. Design qb runs may not be on the table as a change of pace, if at all. I don't think it would be much different passing wise. There's going to be rollouts for Gabbert. He does have some mobility to threaten a short run for positive yards. Pocket passing should be about the same.

Agree! Gabbert played most of the preseason so I don't think he would need a significant learning curve to take over. I just don't know that he has the talent to win as an NFL QB.

For sure, and no doubt the coaches would have to tailor the offense more to his strengths (more pocket passing), etc. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if he played...wait...I need to stop...CK will stay healthy all year long and this is a moot point!
I wish I was as comfortable with our RB depth as the majority of you seem to be. The way I see it, Bush is a perpetual health risk and while Hayne and Mike Davis both show promise neither are proven players. I personally will be crossing my fingers that Hyde stays healthy because if he goes down or wears down, the niners run game is going to suffer greatly.
